WEG Develops Niobium-Based Coating Line Resistant to Corrosive Agents in Partnership with Randon Companies
WEG, in partnership with Nione, a unit of Randon Companies and Fras-le engaged in the development, production, and application of nanotechnology, presents to the market a pre-mixture with niobium oxide nanoparticles that will serve as a base for application in protective coatings.
The innovation was presented alongside the inauguration of the company’s manufacturing unit, located in the city of Içara, in the southern region of Santa Catarina, on Friday (12/03).
The addition of this product to the coating allows for gains in corrosion resistance, color and gloss durability, and also enables ultra-fast drying, improving the application process.
Moreover, solvent-free, with rapid drying and water-based nanoparticles, the new monocomponent line combines special acrylic resins and includes one of the main nanoparticles, the mineral abundant in Brazil, niobium.
WEG Delivers Giant Transformer Measuring 10.1 Meters Tall and Weighing 271.1 Tons to the Neoenergia Oiti Wind Complex in Northeast Brazil
The works of the Neoenergia Oitis Wind Complex, the largest of the company in Brazil, located between Piauí and Bahia, are advancing rapidly. The first of three transformers to be installed at the Oitis substation has just been delivered by WEG, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of turbines and electric motors. Each transformer has a capacity of 230 MVA.
Manufactured by WEG in Betim (MG), the transformer arrived at the site after 45 days of travel, covering 3,297 kilometers. Due to the size of the equipment, which measures approximately 10.1 meters tall and weighs 271.1 tons (filled with oil), a complex logistical operation was required. The other two transformers will be delivered in December. Read the full article here.
