In Japan, Suzuki Spacia Offers 360° Cameras, Heated Seats, and Fuel Consumption of 26 km/l for ¥ 1.530.000, While in Brazil, Popular Cars Lose Features and Cost More.

At a time when popular cars in Brazil continue to lose comfort and safety items to keep prices under control, the Japanese market shows that it is possible to have an economical car, complete and equipped with luxury items without breaking the bank. This is the case of the Suzuki Spacia, one of the best-selling kei cars in Japan, which offers a generous equipment package and a fuel consumption of up to 26 km/l, for a value equivalent to ¥ 1.530.000 in direct conversion.

While entry-level models in Brazil, even above ¥ 1.040.000, come without a rearview camera, split rear seats, or even height adjustments, the Suzuki Spacia comes standard or as an option in intermediate versions with a 360° camera, heated front and rear seats, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and head-up display.

Manufactured in Japan, the Spacia is a kei car, a category of mini cars that limits dimensions and power, but prioritizes intelligent use of space and fuel efficiency. Despite its compact size, the Suzuki Spacia offers surprisingly spacious interior, sliding rear doors with electric opening, and seats that can be adjusted to maximize loading space or passenger comfort.

Impressive Fuel Consumption

The Suzuki Spacia features a mild hybrid engine, combining a 660 cc combustion engine with an electric generator that acts at low speeds and during starts, reducing consumption in urban use. The result is impressive fuel consumption for a gasoline car: 26.4 km/l in the WLTC cycle, according to official Suzuki data.

In comparison, the average fuel consumption of popular cars in Brazil ranges from 11 to 15 km/l on gasoline in mixed use, while the Spacia nearly doubles that average, delivering real savings in urban and highway travel.

Luxury Features in an Economical Compact

Among the comfort and safety items that the Spacia offers, even as a compact and affordable car in Japan, are:

  • 360° Camera with Real-Time View
  • Heated Front and Rear Seats
  • Color Head-Up Display
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Automatic Emergency Braking System
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Mild Hybrid System for Reduced Consumption
  • Electric Sliding Rear Doors
  • Color Digital Dashboard and Multimedia Center with Connectivity

These are features present in models of higher categories in Brazil and absent in many models above ¥ 1.000.000, highlighting the contrast between what is offered to the Japanese consumer and the Brazilian consumer.

A Kei Car That Fits in Daily Life and Budget

The Spacia was developed with urban use in mind in Japan, where narrow streets and tight parking spaces demand compact cars, but without sacrificing comfort. The model has a length of 3.39 m and a width of 1.47 m, making it easy to maneuver in tight spots, while the tall roof of 1.78 m ensures excellent interior space.

Moreover, the maintenance of kei cars in Japan is favored by lower taxes and fees, creating an accessible mobility cycle for families, the elderly, and young people looking for their first car. For the Japanese consumer, it is possible to have a complete Japanese car with luxury equipment and motorcycle-like fuel consumption, for an amount that in Brazil would only buy an entry-level model without basic equipment.
