Wilson Sons is a Brazilian company that operates in the maritime services sector, including port operations, towing, storage, and logistics. TechnipFMC, in turn, is a multinational engineering and underwater project construction company. The two companies formed a partnership for the execution of docking services at the company’s shipyards in the Port of Santos.
Understand What the Role of Wilson Sons and TechnipFMC Will Be in the Docking Carried Out in the Port of Santos
The cable-laying vessel “Vitória Lift 1,” from TechnipFMC, completed the necessary docking for the company to achieve the renewal of the CSN (Certificate of Navigation Safety) through preventive maintenance at the company’s shipyards. This is the second docking carried out by Wilson Sons at the request of the shipowner, a partnership that was already established in 2018.
Despite having its docking performed at the Port of Santos, the cable-laying vessel “Vitória 1” operates in loading and unloading steel coils in the area of the state capital, Vitória. The docking lasted a month and was completed in March, with the support of Wilson Sons’ tugboats for the movement of the vessel into the dry dock.

A Large Part of Wilson Sons Employees Were Involved in the Docking of TechnipFMC’s Vessel at the Port of Santos
During the docking process, the maintenance teams from Wilson Sons were able to carry out repairs on the hull, propellers, shafts, thrusters, cooling systems, and other critical components of the vessel. After the work is completed, the vessel is once again placed in the water to return to service, which in this case is conducted in a region relatively far from the Port of Santos. Docking vessels is a common practice worldwide to maintain the safety and quality of vessels.
In the case of TechnipFMC’s vessel, 100 Wilson Sons employees were sent to the Port of Santos to carry out the docking. Among the professionals involved in TechnipFMC’s project, we can mention: technicians, engineers, welders, painters, and other specialized professionals.
According to the website Portos e Navios, upon completing the docking project at the Port of Santos, Wilson Sons sent a satisfaction survey to TechnipFMC and received a top rating for what the company referred to as:
“Ability to work in partnership and understand client needs (such as service monitoring and flexibility for add-ons).”
