Beyond The Wind, Solar Energy Also Hits Records And Energy Generation Could Supply All Northeast States, Except Maranhão!

The competition for space among these renewable energy sources has been proven day by day through new studies monitored by ONS (National Electric System Operator). According to the organization, wind turbines in the Northeast reached a new record of instantaneous electricity generation, with 14,167 megawatts (mW), and solar energy generation in the region produced 2,963 megawatts.

In practical terms, the wind turbines can provide enough energy for nine states, not counting the 23% that can be exported, which is its record. Additionally, solar energy has also been gaining ground and increasing its production, reaching up to 27.5% of the energy used in the Northeast states, except for Maranhão.

Despite Solar Energy Being On The Rise, Wind Energy Has A Significantly Larger Presence Compared To Other Sources

Still talking about the Northeast region of the country, ONS states that with the winds present in July, wind energy may set records again. The monthly bulletins, drafted by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, show a growing trend in the production and use of renewable energies compared to 2021, reaching nearly 50% participation.

Wind energy has a significantly larger presence compared to other sources. According to the Internal Supply of Electric Energy (OIEE), the estimate is that this energy will reach an 11% share, while solar energy is expected to reach 3.9%.

Wind and solar energies are on the rise in Brazil because they are the most competitive. This factor was proven after an analysis done by the Electric Energy Trading Chamber, with the release in June of the last ten auctions held by the government, which decide where the highest investment will go.
