On Monday, the 19th, XP Investimentos announced that it has completed the fundraising of 590.634 million reais for the Newave Capital fund, which is the Brazilian investment manager focused on the electricity sector currently operating in the country and Latin America.
The Newave Energia I Advisory will invest in Newave Energia, the company that builds solar and wind power plants and also sells small and medium enterprises in the free market. According to XP Investimentos, the fund’s executive distributor, the fundraising attracted about 10,000 investors, and its substantial amount set a record for the infrastructure fund focusing on the energy sector.
Newave Energia counts Gerdau as a major investor and also consumer of energy with a 33.33% stake. It is worth noting that Gerdau is a technology innovation company from the steel group. However, Newave Capital holds the remaining 66.67%. Newave Capital was founded in 2022 by Edgard Corrochano and a partner known as Cláudio Ferreira, in partnership with XP Investimentos.
