Electric Car Developed by Students at the University of Stuttgart Managed to Reach 100 Kilometers per Hour in a Time Twice as Fast as a Formula 1 Car

Students from the University of Stuttgart, in Germany, managed to set a new record for the fastest acceleration in an electric vehicle. In tests, the fastest electric car in the world reached 100 km/h in just 1.46 seconds. The title was validated by the Guinness World Records.

The initiative, which has been ongoing for a year and is carried out by members of the so-called Green Team, consists of university students interested in various areas related to preservation. The electric car was conceived and built entirely within the university campus workshop. The tests were conducted at the Bosch testing ground. Check out the video:

A Swiss team called AMZ Racing was the previous holder of the fastest acceleration record, with a time of 1.51 seconds. In this aspect, the Tesla Model S Plaid has the fastest time of any production vehicle, with a time of 1.99 seconds. Meanwhile, the Rimac Nevera has the best time of any commercial supercar, with a time of 1.85 seconds.

The Fastest Electric Car in the World Built by Students from Stuttgart is Almost Twice as Fast as a Formula 1 Vehicle

The fastest Formula 1 cars can reach 100 kilometers per hour in about 2.8 seconds. In fact, in this segment, measurements are taken from 0 to 200 kilometers per hour, a speed they can reach in about five seconds. In this scenario, the electric car produced by the German students records a time about twice as fast as the F1s.

The tested prototype is a single-seater with all-wheel drive that is powered solely by electricity and generates a power comparable to 245 horsepower. This power is not something very “out of this world”; what is truly surprising is the car’s weight, only 145 kg, which was achieved due to the predominant use of carbon fiber in its construction.

It is important to emphasize that the fastest electric car in the world will not be produced on a large scale for commercial sale. It is merely a prototype that was built as a basis for analysis and studies at the University of Stuttgart.
