Citroën Basalt Dark Edition Debuts as Top of the Line With Sporty Design, Good Space and Competitive Price Against National Rivals.

The Citroën Basalt Dark Edition, the new top-of-the-line version of the model, was launched in Brazil with a price of R$ 115 thousand, below the direct rivals Fiat Fastback and Volkswagen Nivus, both starting at R$ 120 thousand.

The launch took place in September and the new model is already drawing attention for combining sporty style, distinctive finish, and one of the best cost-benefit ratios among the national cars in the segment.

Exclusive Design and Red Signature

Unlike the adventurous tone present in the C3 XTR and Aircross XTR models, the Basalt Dark Edition arrives with a more sophisticated and urban look.

In addition, the standout color is André Red, chosen in honor of the brand’s founder, André Citroën (1878-1935).

Visual details include red elements on the front bumper, the C pillars, and also a stripe that runs along the entire rear spoiler.

Meanwhile, the glossy black alloy wheels and darkened logos further reinforce the sporty style of the version.

Finally, among the body color options, consumers can choose from three shades: black, graphite gray, and the launch color Sting Gray, which ensures exclusivity for the model.

Renovated and More Sophisticated Interior

Inside, the Citroën Basalt Dark Edition features a dark finish with red details. The seats, the steering wheel, and even the gear shift boot have contrasting stitching.

Soft-touch materials and stitching enhance the visual appearance, which was previously criticized in the lineup.

The 10.25-inch multimedia center, digital air conditioning, and console with a black piano finish elevate the perception of quality.

The 490-liter trunk is another differential, surpassing direct rivals. The 2.64 m wheelbase ensures good interior space, balancing comfort among occupants.

Comparison With Fiat Fastback and VW Nivus

Despite being the top-of-the-line version, the Basalt Dark Edition maintains a competitive price. While the basic Fastback and the simpler Nivus cost R$ 120 thousand, the Citroën model arrives at R$ 115 thousand.

However, to keep the lower cost, the version comes with only 4 airbags and halogen headlights.

Even so, it offers a 1.0 turbo engine with 130 hp, CVT automatic transmission, and raised suspension, features that balance the package.

Performance and Driving Experience

The 1.0 turbo T200 engine, sourced from Fiat, delivers 130 hp and accelerates the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of 199 km/h. During the test drive, it showed strength on inclines and agility at low RPM.

The light steering and soft suspension prioritize comfort without sacrificing stability. With an average consumption of 12.1 km/l in the city and 13.7 km/l on the highway, the Basalt proves economical for daily use.

Acceptance in the Brazilian Market

The combination of reliable mechanics, ample trunk space, good interior space, and competitive pricing has won over consumers.

The Basalt is already the best-selling model in the C-Cubed family in Brazil, even being adopted as a taxi in cities like Rio de Janeiro.

This positive reception reinforces the brand’s strategy: to offer national cars with a focus on cost-benefit, without giving up on style and modernity.
