The ANP Data For This Week Is Quite Optimistic For The Consumer, As Gasoline, Ethanol, And Diesel Prices Have Fallen In Recent Days. The New News Is Encouraging, As The Current Scenario Of Fuel Prices Is A Nightmare For Brazilians.
On last Monday (07/04), the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) released the data on the fuel prices in Brazil for this week. The new data regarding gasoline, diesel, and ethanol are encouraging for Brazilian consumers, who have been suffering from a critical price scenario in recent months.
ANP Data Indicates That The Drop In Fuel Prices Is The Result Of The New ICMS Reduction Policy In Some States
According to the weekly survey conducted by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), with the reduction of ICMS (Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services) — a tax charged whenever there is circulation of any good — the average common price of gasoline has decreased by R$ 0.27 across the country.
Furthermore, according to the ANP survey data, the average price of gasoline was R$ 7.127 this week. In the previous week, the average price was R$ 7.390. Thus, the price of gasoline had a decrease of 3.55%, which is a significant reduction for the pockets of Brazilians. São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Goiás were the first states to adopt the new price reduction.

The lowest gasoline prices were found in the state of Paraná, where the average price dropped from R$ 7.14 per liter to R$ 6.84, registering a decline of R$ 0.56. The state with the least price reduction was Bahia, which saw a decrease of R$ 0.11 in the average gasoline prices.
Another great piece of news is for end consumers of ethanol, which has seen significant decreases for almost nine consecutive weeks. According to ANP data, the average price recorded for this week was R$ 4.72, while in the previous week, the price was R$ 4.87.
Diesel Prices Continue To Exceed Gasoline Prices In Brazil
According to data provided by the ANP, the prices of common diesel and S-10 showed almost insignificant reductions. Diesel prices for this week recorded a slight decline of R$ 0.01 compared to the previous week. A more than critical scenario for public transport in the country.
It is worth noting that, according to a survey conducted by the ANP the previous week, after a Petrobras adjustment, the prices of diesel per liter exceeded gasoline prices for the first time since 2004 in much of the Brazilian states. Now, the average diesel price went from R$ 7.568 to R$ 7.554.
The increase in diesel prices is due to the critical global scenario; the unstable situation in the international fuel market has caused a rise in the prices of commodities, leading Petrobras to adjust the prices of common diesel by about 14.2%.
As a result, the Brazilian government pressured the company to prevent high international prices from being passed on to Brazil. However, Petrobras has not yet found new alternatives to reduce fuel prices. Thus, prices continue to rise throughout the country.
Therefore, it is important to remember that high fuel prices are not restricted to just one region, as the entire Brazilian territory suffers from discouraging news and the unstable situation regarding rising prices of gasoline, diesel, and ethanol.
