The ANP data for this week are quite optimistic for the consumer, since the prices of gasoline, ethanol and diesel have fallen in recent days. The new news is encouraging, as the current scenario of fuel prices is a nightmare for Brazilians.

Last Monday (04/07), the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), released data on fuel prices in Brazil for this week. The new data about gasoline, diesel and ethanol are encouraging for Brazilian consumers, who in recent months have been suffering from a critical price scenario.

ANP data indicate that the drop in fuel prices is the result of the new ICMS reduction policy in some states

According to the weekly survey carried out by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), with the reduction of ICMS (Tax on Circulation of Goods and Provision of Services) — a tax charged whenever there is circulation of any merchandise — the common average value of gasoline reduced by R$ 0,27 across the country.

In addition, also according to data from the ANP survey, the average price of gasoline was R$ 7,127 this week. In the previous week, the average amount was R$7.390. That is, the price of gasoline had a decrease of 3,55%, a significant decrease in the pockets of Brazilians. São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Goiás were the first states to adopt the new reduction in values.

The lowest gasoline prices were found in the state of Paraná, the reduction in average values went from R$ 7,14 per liter to R$ 6,84, registering a drop of R$ 0,56. The one that had the lowest price reduction was the state of Bahia, with a drop of R$ 0,11 in the average price of gasoline.

Another great news is for the final consumers of ethanol, which continues to record significant declines for almost nine consecutive weeks. According to ANP data, the average value registered for that week was R$ 4,72, whereas in the previous week, the price was R$ 4,87.

Diesel prices continue to exceed gasoline prices in Brazil

According to data made available by the ANP, the values of common diesel and S-10 showed an almost insignificant reduction. Diesel prices for this week recorded a slight retreat of R$ 0,01 compared to the previous week. More than critical scenario for public transport in the country.

It is worth remembering that, according to a survey carried out by the ANP the previous week, after a readjustment by Petrobras, diesel liter prices exceeded gasoline prices for the first time since 2004 in most Brazilian states. Now, the average value of diesel went from R$ 7,568 to R$ 7,554.

The increase registered in diesel prices is due to the critical world scenario, the unstable situation in the international fuel market, which caused a increase in the values of commodities, leading Petrobras to readjust the values of common diesel by around 14,2%.

With that, the Brazilian government put pressure on the company so that the high international values were not passed on to Brazil. However, Petrobras has not yet found new alternatives for reducing fuel prices. In this way, values continue to grow throughout the country.

Thus, it is important to remember that the high prices of fuels are not restricted to just one region, since the entire Brazilian territory suffers from the discouraging news and the unstable situation of the high prices of gasoline, diesel and ethanol.
