Compact SUV From Toyota May Replace The Yaris Hatch And Arrive In The National Market With An Affordable, Modern And Efficient Proposal
According to reports published by European portals like Auto Express, Autocar, and CarWow, the Toyota Aygo X is being quoted as one of the automaker’s most promising models for emerging markets. The small urban SUV is already a success in countries like the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy, and is beginning to gain prominence as a possible launch in Latin America, including Brazil.
Although there is still no official confirmation from Toyota Brasil, signs of the brand’s interest in expanding the presence of the Aygo X in Latin America have intensified following the advancement of Toyota’s GA-B platform in global models. The model has the potential to fill the space of the Yaris hatch, whose production has been reviewed in some emerging markets, signaling a strategic renewal of the brand’s compact line.
Toyota Aygo X: The Brand’s Smallest SUV Focused on Urban Mobility
The Toyota Aygo X is an ultra-compact SUV, measuring only 3.70 meters in length, 1.74 meters in width, and 1.51 meters in height, making it ideal for urban use. With a modern look, bold lines, and an elevated profile, the model combines hatchback elements with the visual robustness of SUVs, offering versatility for daily life in large cities.

Built on the GA-B platform, the same used in the Toyota Yaris and SUV Yaris Cross, the Aygo X offers high structural rigidity, safety, and superior drivability. The 2.43-meter wheelbase contributes to the comfort of occupants, and the trunk with 261 liters meets the everyday needs of those seeking a practical and functional vehicle.
Technological and Well-Equipped Interior for the Category
Even with a focus on cost-effectiveness, the interior of the Aygo X surprises with its quality of finish and level of equipment. The multimedia center features a screen of up to 9 inches with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless connectivity, while the dashboard can display digital instruments combined with analog displays, maintaining the brand’s traditional identity.
The interior also features colorful details matching the bodywork, fabric seats with contrasting stitching, digital air conditioning, a multifunction steering wheel, and a sound system with four or six speakers, depending on the version. There is also stability control, hill-start assist, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping alert in the more complete models.
Performance and Consumption of The Toyota Aygo X
Under the hood, the Aygo X is equipped with a 1.0 VVT-i three-cylinder engine, delivering 72 horsepower and 9.4 kgfm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic transmission. This configuration prioritizes low fuel consumption and simple maintenance, maintaining a focus on economic mobility.
The appearance of the Toyota Aygo X aims to attract urban consumers, young and connected, according to analyses published by “WhatCar?” and Top Gear. With two-tone paint options, wheels up to 18 inches, and a ground clearance of 14.6 cm, the model manages to combine style and functionality in one package.

In Europe, the model achieves average consumption above 22 km/l in a combined cycle with gasoline, positioning itself as one of the most efficient options in the segment. In Brazil, where gasoline has a different composition, the estimated consumption would be around 20 km/l, remaining competitive against direct rivals.
Indications of a Possible Launch of The Aygo X in Brazil
Although the Aygo X has not yet been officially announced in Brazil, automotive industry experts are already considering its arrival as a natural replacement for the Yaris hatch, a model whose demand is declining in various markets and losing space to compact SUVs and crossovers.
Moreover, the increased interest of consumers in compact vehicles with an adventurous touch has encouraged Toyota to analyze opportunities to bring models like the Aygo X to regions such as Latin America and Southeast Asia. The adoption of the GA-B platform in manufacturing plants in Brazil could enable the assembly or even local production of the model in the medium term.
Another indication is the movement of direct competitors that are already investing in compact SUVs priced below R$ 100,000, such as Renault Kwid E-Tech and Fiat Pulse in their entry versions.
The Aygo X, with an estimated pricing in the range of R$ 90,000, could attract not only first-time car buyers but also rideshare drivers and fleet owners interested in economy and durability.
In markets such as Italy, France, Spain, and Germany, the Toyota Aygo X has established itself as one of the sales leaders in the entry segment with SUV aesthetics. Its youthful design, technological features, and low-cost usage proposition have made it one of the favorites in European urban centers.
In Brazil, where the public values an elevated driving position and low consumption, the model has the potential to stand out, especially among young people looking for a modern and functional car. Alongside Toyota’s reputation for reliability, the Aygo X could have a good chance of becoming one of the most efficient compact SUVs in the country, even without hybrid powertrain.
