If you work as a driver for apps like 99, Uber or works as a motorcycle courier, it’s time to pay attention. One new law arrived like a real bomb and can make you lose your driver's license if you don't comply with the new rules.
A new law focuses on the acronym EAR (Performs Remunerated Activity) in the qualification document. According to the Traffic Portal, this identification is mandatory for anyone who uses their car as a source of income. The National Traffic Council (Contran) has already guaranteed a resolution that came into force on January 2, 2023, imposing a fine of R$ 293,47 for anyone who needs the EAR and is caught driving without this note.
What does the new law say?
In short, if you drive by profession, such as bus driver, truck driver, taxi driver, car driver, Uber, motorcycle taxi driver or motorcycle courier, need to be observed EAR on CNH. Only those who use the vehicle to facilitate work or move between clients without being paid for driving do not need this note.

The acronym EAR is not necessary, for example, for those who use their own truck to transport their production to points of sale, as the remuneration comes from production, not from the act of driving. Since Contran Resolution 985, in January 2023, anyone caught carrying out remunerated activity without the acronym EAR on their CNH faces fines of R$293,47 and seven points on their license. The fine is applied to the vehicle owner and can only be issued by means of an approach.
EAR Benefits
Despite the difficulties, the acronym EAR also brings benefits. Drivers with EAR have a limit of 40 points on their driver's license, while for amateur drivers the limit can vary from 40 to 20 points. Furthermore, there is the possibility of recycling after 30 points, helping to reset the score and avoiding suspension of driver's license.
