The President Of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, Announced On Wednesday, February 4, That The Agreement With The United Arab Emirates For The Passenger Train Has Been Finalized, Providing For 12 Stations, A Fleet Of 11 Trains And A Capacity Of 40 Thousand Users Per Day, With A Direct Impact On Urban Mobility And The Public Transport System.

The Announcement That Peña Confirms The Agreement With The United Arab Emirates For The Passenger Train Was Made During An Official Visit To The Gulf Country.

According To The President, The Memorandum Of Understanding Closes A Long-Awaited Phase Since The Enactment Of The Special Law That Established The Suburban Railway Project.

Peña Highlighted On His Social Media The Historic Symbolism Of The Initiative. He Mentioned That, Just Like In 1861 When The Train First Ran In Paraguay, The New System Represents A Milestone Of Modernization And Institutional Continuity Aimed At The Future Of The Country.

The President Also Stated That The Project Will Dignify The Lives Of Thousands Of Citizens. In His Statement, He Reiterated The Expression That Paraguay Is Destined For Great Achievements, A Recurring Phrase In His Recent Official Speeches.

Railway Project Between Asunción And Ypacaraí

Peña Confirms The Agreement With The United Arab Emirates For The Passenger Train After More Than A Year Without Practical Progress Since The Enactment Of The Special Law. Until Then, The Project Had Not Been Tendered, Although There Were Rumors About Negotiations With Foreign Companies Interested.

The Suburban Railway System Will Connect Asunción To Ypacaraí, As Outlined In The Documents Released By The Presidency. The Signed Agreement Establishes The Foundations For The Implementation Of A Modern And Sustainable Electric Train, According To The Official Definition.

According To The Presidential Report, The Infrastructure Will Have 12 Stations Distributed Along The Route. The Estimated Fleet Is 11 Units, Sized To Meet An Approximate Daily Demand Of 40,000 Passengers.

The Annual Projection Indicates The Transportation Of About 14 Million Users. The Government Claims That This Volume Should Substantially Improve The Public Transport System By Offering A Regular And Structured Railway Alternative.

Economic Impacts And Job Creation

The Released Agreement Provides For Direct Impacts On Job Creation. During The Construction Phase Of The Suburban Train, Approximately 20,000 New Temporary Jobs Are Estimated To Be Created.

In The Operational Phase, The Government Projects About 500 Permanent Jobs Related To The Maintenance, Operation, And Management Of The Railway System. These Numbers Were Presented By The Presidency As Part Of The Benefits Associated With The Project.

The Authorities Also Estimate Significant Economic Gains For The Population. According To Official Calculations, The Annual Savings For Paraguayan Citizens Could Reach US$ 150 Million.

Over A 30-Year Horizon, The Accumulated Value Of This Savings Would Amount To Approximately US$ 4.5 Billion. The Estimate Considers Reduced Travel Times, Lower Operational Costs, And Overall Improvements In Urban Quality Of Life.

Statements From The Ministry Of Industry And Commerce

According To The Ministry Of Industry And Commerce, The Suburban Train Will Offer Concrete Mobility Solutions. Minister Javier Giménez Classified The Initiative As The Most Important Urban Transport And Mobility Project In The History Of Paraguay.

Giménez Stated That The Implementation Of The System Aims To Provide Direct Solutions To Citizens Through The Agreement Between Paraguay And The United Arab Emirates, Signed With The Company Etihad Rail.

The Minister Mentioned An Approximate Investment Of US$ 450 Million. According To Him, The Project Will Serve About 40,000 People Per Day, Equivalent To 14 Million Users Per Year, Using Clean And Renewable Energy.

The Assessment Was Shared By The Executive Secretary Minister, Marianna Saldívar, Who Also Highlighted The Project’s Potential To Transform And Improve The Lives Of Paraguayan Citizens Served By The System.

Timeline And International Agenda Of Peña

Regarding The Timeline, Giménez Informed That The Use Of The Train Could Begin 36 Months After The Completion Of The Technical Feasibility Phase. Once Operational, The System Would Significantly Reduce The Number Of Vehicles On The Streets.

Peña Confirms The Agreement With The United Arab Emirates For The Passenger Train Amid An International Agenda Focused On Strategic Cooperation. In Addition To The Railway Announcement, The President Held Meetings With Local Authorities.

Among The Meetings, A Highlight Was The Meeting With Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-Governor Of Abu Dhabi, To Discuss Issues Related To Artificial Intelligence And Technology.

Another Commitment Was With Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President Of The Emirates Group. According To The Presidency, The Meeting Aimed To Discuss Initiatives To Transform Paraguay Into A Regional Hub, Expanding Future Partnerships And Institutional Opportunities.
