A 220-meter giant powered in part by solar energy and lithium batteries has just unloaded nearly 5,000 Chinese cars at the Port of Itajaí. It is the first of ten Grimaldi super ships and the first in the world prepared to run on ammonia as fuel.

The largest car carrier ship in the world will unload 7,200 BYD cars at the SC Port in June, but before that, an Italian ship will arrive this Tuesday with another 4,500 vehicles, totaling 11,700 cars, 150 workers, and a 24-hour non-stop operation at the Port of Itajaí.

China builds at sea an automated terminal of 2.23 million m², equivalent to 312 football fields, with 7 berths for giant ships, 26 remote cranes, and 130 driverless vehicles to move up to 8 million containers per year and keep Shanghai ahead of Singapore, Ningbo-Zhoushan, and Shenzhen in global logistics.
