Hundreds of tourists were on board the Britannia at the time of the collision, according to information from P&O Cruises.

The company released a statement stating that the incident was related to adverse weather conditions.

Additionally, P&O Cruises noted that only a "small number of people sustained minor injuries" and that those passengers were promptly treated at the ship's medical center.

To ensure everyone's safety, it was decided that the ship would return with a reduced passenger capacity.

The Britannia, which had started its voyage on August 18, had scheduled a round-trip itinerary, passing through destinations such as Cádiz and Ibiza, before the incident took place.

“A limited number of guests and crew on board have been advised that they will be leaving the ship and returning to Southampton (or the point of departure) by flight and transfer. Guests remaining onboard will be able to enjoy the entertainment and activities scheduled for the remainder of the voyage.”
