Structural Damage Leads Cruise Ship To Reduce Passengers For Return To Southampton
To ensure the safety of all, it was decided that the ship would return with a reduced passenger capacity.
The Britannia, which had started its journey on August 18, had a round trip itinerary scheduled, passing through destinations such as Cádiz and Ibiza before the incident occurred.
A limited number of guests and crew aboard were informed that they would leave the ship and return to Southampton (or to the departure point) by flight and transfer. Guests remaining on board would be able to enjoy the entertainment and activities scheduled for the remainder of the trip,” concluded the P&O Cruises spokesperson to the American newspaper, USA Today.
