São Jorge D’Oeste, a small town in Paraná with 9,587 inhabitants, has become an industrial hub by receiving R$ 612 million from the Piracanjuba Group to build a cheese factory that began construction in November, with a significant regional impact.
The investment is part of the Paraná Competitivo program and plans a factory with an annual production of 39,4 thousand tons of mozzarella and 7,9 thousand tons of butter.

The unit started production in November, although construction is still ongoing, marking an economic shift for the small town of São Jorge D’Oeste and reinforcing industrial decentralization.

The project incorporates the utilization of whey, converted annually into 6 thousand tons of whey protein and 14.8 thousand tons of lactose powder.
The strategy eliminates transportation between units, reduces costs, and increases the efficiency of the integrated industrial operation of the local production process.
National Impact
The factory also increases the internal supply by replacing imports, as the country imports 85% of the whey protein and lactose consumed.
In addition to production, the strategic location strengthens regional dairy chains and consolidates São Jorge D’Oeste as a new industrial axis for the state.
