Supergasbras, Global Leader in LPG Distribution, Took a Great Step Towards This Year’s Energy Transition by Launching the First 100% Electric Truck for Bulk Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Transportation and Distribution. This Initiative is the Result of a Partnership with Volkswagen Trucks and Buses, the EGSA Group, and the JUNTU Rental Company.
According to Júlio Cardoso, President of Supergasbras, this innovation brings benefits to society, the environment, and also to the company. We are faced with a new concept of sustainable transport that reinforces the company’s strategy! In the city of Rio de Janeiro, Supergasbras is testing an electric vehicle with a range of up to 250 km.
The vehicle weighs 14 tons and departs from the largest bottling park of the company, located in Duque de Caxias. Júlio, who is responsible for innovation, explains that this pilot project is just the beginning: “Our intention is to expand the electric fleet and enlarge the routes.” This new technology promises to improve the quality of services provided by Supergasbras in the region.
JUNTURENTAL, led by Adolfo Luis Vicentim, has moved towards new modal energy solutions for critical fractional loads. The e-Delivery truck chosen by Supergasbras has a tank with a capacity of 9 m³ that meets ASME and RTQ6C standards. Furthermore, it has an electric-powered LPG transfer pump (Blackmer), thus providing safety and reliability during the transport of hazardous products.
