According to the oil company, the mark surpassed the 103 procedures registered in 2014, previously the year with the highest demand.

Increase in the number of operations reflects the growth of LNG imports by Petrobras this year

By the end of 2021, the expectation is to reach 120 transfers. The increase in the number of operations reflects the growth in LNG imports by Petrobras this year. Since 2009, the opening date of the first LNG terminal in Brazil, a total of 716 operations have been carried out.

“The record is the result of a set of initiatives adopted by Petrobras to expand the supply of natural gas, guaranteeing the fulfillment of its commitments in the current scenario of national water crisis”, says the state-owned company in the statement.

And it was only possible due to the efforts of the terminal management team to maintain the integrity and availability of the company's assets, as well as the programming and commercial teams for the acquisition of LNG cargoes in the market, guaranteeing stock availability.

Siemens wins a huge order for the construction of the GNA II Thermoelectric Power Plant, in Porto do Açu; the largest LNG complex in Latin America has investments of BRL 6 billion and will supply energy to 14 million homes

Siemens Energy has just won a contract for the construction of the GNA II Thermoelectric Plant, located in Porto do Açu, in the state of Rio de Janeiro – the largest LNG complex in Latin America. OUTDOORS GNA II will be the second combined cycle power plant that Siemens Energy will build on a turnkey in the thermoelectric pole and will have an installed capacity of 1,7 gigawatt (GW).

According to Siemens, construction of the plant, which is already underway, takes place after the successful commissioning of GNA I, in the second half of 2021.

With a combined capacity of 3 GW, GNA I and GNA II will be capable of supplying electricity equivalent to the consumption of 14 million homes. This second order will feature the first application in Brazil of the gas turbine – HL class.

The plant is being built jointly with the consortium partner Andrade Gutierrez, which will provide civil works, infrastructure and assembly.

The thermoelectric complex is part of the Polo Gás do Açu, a project under development at the Açu Port Complex, which aims to provide a logistical solution for receiving, processing, converting into electricity and transporting natural gas in the Campos and Santos basins, as well as to import and store LNG. A second phase will comprise additional thermal power projects under the 6,4 GW environmental license owned by GNA.

The construction of the GNA I plant started in January 2018 and entered into commercial operation in September 2021. The two plants will supply energy to regions such as Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, within the National Interconnected System.
