The Multinational Audi Plans New Million-Dollar Investments in the Electric Car Market and Has Started Installing Ultra-Fast Chargers in Brazil. The New Equipment Can Charge Two Cars at the Same Time.

Audi has just announced new investments in the electric car segment in the country, with the expansion of its network of authorized dealerships to sell this type of vehicle (to 100% still this year), as well as in the installation of ultra-fast chargers at the brand’s stores across Brazil.

Audi Has Sold More Than 400 Electric Cars in 2022

The automaker has even inaugurated its first ultra-fast charging station at the Audi Center Alta da XV dealership in Curitiba (PR), with a 150 kW electric car charger. The company emphasizes that it is one of the leaders in electric car sales throughout the country, with 26 units sold over the course of this year.

It is worth noting that Audi has sold a total of 429 electric cars this year, representing an 87% increase compared to last year.

In addition to Curitiba (PR), ultra-fast chargers are also present at seven other Audi sales points located in the cities of Maringá (PR), Blumenau (SC), Balneário Camboriú (SC), Florianópolis (SC), Teresina (PI), Uberlândia (BH), and Rio Preto (SP). At the beginning of next year, Audi Brazil promises to have its complete network of dealerships equipped with the system.

According to the CEO of Audi Brazil, Daniel Rojas, in a statement to the press, the multinational has eight ultra-fast charging stations spread across its dealership network and, by the end of the year, will quadruple this number, reinforcing Audi’s commitment to develop, continuously and consistently, the electric mobility infrastructure in Brazil.

Audi Chargers Can Charge Up to Two Cars at the Same Time

According to the CEO, dealerships have already been an essential support point for customers in refueling electric cars, both residents and those just passing through the city, and now they can count on the exclusive experience of ultra-fast charging.

The direct current chargers of up to 150 kW feature Enel X Way technology and have the capacity to charge up to two electric cars simultaneously. In 2020, Audi Brazil announced the investment of R$ 10 million to expand its electric charging network in Brazil, to install approximately 100 AC charging points and focused on the faster direct current chargers afterward.

At the end of last year, the brand revealed an investment of R$ 20 million in the full electrification of its network of over 40 stores across Brazil, which began offering the 150 kW charger to customers for free.

Multinational Resumes Activities in the Country

In August, Audi announced an investment of R$ 100 million to resume vehicle production at its unit in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná. The resumption of the company’s operations in the country comes after more than a year of stoppage for various reasons.

The company reported that the investment amount will be used for updating the assembly line, including the purchase of new machines, quality control equipment, logistical infrastructure, information technology systems, among others. Daniel Rojas was present at the announcement, as well as the current governor Ratinho Junior.

The models chosen for production at the resumption of the factory in Paraná are the new Audi Q3 and Audi Q3 Sportback, both with a 2.0-liter engine and 231 horsepower. For now, the unit has the capacity to produce up to 4,000 vehicles per year, across two shifts.
