As the guardian of Malaysia’s national oil and gas resources, PETRONAS is executing a broad digital transformation program in energy operations to extract value from data.

The adoption of AI as part of its overall program for improving oil and gas productivity, asset integrity, and safety supports PETRONAS’ commitment to providing clean and efficient energy solutions by harnessing the power of technology.

The company will work with energy technology, data science, and artificial intelligence specialists at Baker Hughes and C3 AI to collaborate on projects focused on enhancing the reliability of energy assets in critical operations.

Enhancements in Gas Turbines

Utilizing Microsoft Azure, the company will deploy the BHC3 Reliability application to further improve maintenance programs for gas turbines and, in a separate project, enhance the reliability of control valves by detecting anomalous conditions, preventing downtime.

“This program continues the strong relationship between Baker Hughes and PETRONAS to drive productivity and efficiency for cleaner and safer energy,” said Uwem Ukpong, Executive Vice President of Regions, Alliances and Corporate Sales at Baker Hughes. “Artificial intelligence will play a critical role in digital transformation programs that connect current energy demand with the energy transition of tomorrow. We are excited to work with PETRONAS as it leads the digital transformation and unleashes the full power of corporate AI.”
