As the guardian of Malaysia's national oil and gas resources, PETRONAS executes an extensive digital transformation program in energy operations to extract value from data.

The adoption of AI as part of its overall program to improve oil and gas productivity, asset integrity and safety supports PETRONAS' commitment to providing clean and efficient energy solutions by harnessing the power of technology.

The company will work with experts in energy technology, data science and artificial intelligence at Baker Hughes and C3 AI to collaborate on projects focused on greater reliability of energy assets in critical operations.

Improved gas turbines

Utilizing Microsoft Azure, the company will deploy the BHC3 Reliability application to further improve maintenance programs for gas turbines and, in a separate project, improve the reliability of control valves by detecting anomalous conditions, preventing downtime.

“This program continues the strong relationship between Baker Hughes and PETRONAS to drive productivity and efficiency for cleaner, safer energy,” said Uwem Ukpong, Executive Vice President, Regions, Alliances and Corporate Sales, Baker Hughes. “Artificial intelligence will play a critical role in digital transformation programs that connect today's energy demand with tomorrow's energy transition. We are excited to be working with PETRONAS as they lead the way in digital transformation and deploy the full power of enterprise AI.”
