German brand accelerates the transition to the Neue Klasse, combines official announcements with behind-the-scenes information and prepares a broad renewal of the line at a time of intense competition in the global premium segment.

BMW entered 2026 with a combination of business challenges and portfolio renewal.

After delivering 2,169,739 BMW vehicles in 2024, a volume below the record of 2023, but still ahead of Mercedes-Benz and Audi, the German manufacturer accelerated the transition to the Neue Klasse family and is preparing a series of debuts that includes already presented models, confirmed launches, and other names that have emerged in leaked documents related to the brand’s operations in the United States.

Part of this calendar has already ceased to be speculation.

The new BMW iX3 was officially revealed in September 2025 as the first production model of the Neue Klasse, while the new BMW i3 appeared in March 2026 as the second car of this generation.

At the same time, a list obtained by specialized vehicles anticipated other products for the 2026 offensive, including new variations of the iX3, the next generation of the X5, a possible iX4, the renewal of the Series 7, and even an M2 with all-wheel drive.

However, within this set, the models do not have the same degree of public confirmation.

There are cases already detailed by the manufacturer and others that, until now, appear only in early records by automotive publications.

Therefore, the distinction between official announcement and behind-the-scenes information is central to understanding the real scope of this new phase of the brand.

BMW’s Neue Klasse concentrates the new phase of launches

The axis of this renewal is the Neue Klasse, a platform and product language that BMW presents as the basis for its next generation of electric vehicles and part of the digital experience that will be extended to the rest of the line.

The company reported that the technologies of this program should reach 40 launches and updates by 2027, which places 2026 within a broader cycle of industrial and technological transformation.

In the case of the iX3, this movement has already begun.

The SUV debuted with the brand’s new visual identity, 800-volt electric architecture, charging of up to 400 kW, and the introduction of the BMW Panoramic iDrive, a system that projects information along the base of the windshield.

In Brazil, the manufacturer’s subsidiary confirmed in March 2026 that the model will be launched later this year, after the final homologation phase.

BMW assigns to the iX3 the role of inaugurating on the streets the visual and technological language that should appear in other vehicles of the manufacturer.

In this context, expectations grew around new versions of the utility vehicle after the leak of a list of launches.

According to this material, the SUV is expected to gain additional variants, including combinations with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive.

So far, however, the company has not publicly detailed all these configurations.

New BMW i3 expands the bet on electric cars

If the iX3 was the first model of this new stage, the new i3 takes this strategy to the medium sedan segment.

BMW presented the car in March 2026 and confirmed the start of series production for August, at the Munich plant.

The model revives the acronym used in the electric hatchback of the last decade, now with a different proposal: to represent the electric variant of the Series 3 universe within the Neue Klasse era.

According to the official data released by the brand, the i3 has a projected range of up to 440 miles, equivalent to about 708 kilometers, in addition to fast charging in direct current of up to 400 kW.

The manufacturer also positions the sedan as a showcase for its new vehicle electronics, focusing on efficiency, software, and integration between driving and digital interface.

With this, the commercial launch of the i3 takes on a relevant role in the company’s renewal plan.

More than expanding the offer of electric vehicles, the model helps to materialize the strategy announced by BMW for the coming years.

X5, Series 3 and iX5 appear on BMW’s radar

In addition to the two electric vehicles already presented, the rest of the agenda includes projects at different stages of confirmation.

The next generation of the X5 frequently appears among the models expected for BMW’s new phase, and the brand has already indicated, in previous communications about its industrial strategy, that the utility vehicle should have a broader range of engines, including a fully electric option.

This scenario sustains expectations around a future iX5, although commercial name, precise calendar, and versions have not yet been officially detailed by the company.

So far, the safest reading is that the X5 will remain an important piece of the line’s expansion in the transition phase between combustion engines, hybrids, and electric vehicles.

Another name that reappears strongly is that of the combustion Series 3.

The model is expected to remain in line alongside the new electric i3, in line with BMW’s current strategy of maintaining different technologies in parallel.

The trend observed in prototypes and industry records is that the sedan will preserve this coexistence between versions with distinct proposals, but aligned with the manufacturer’s new visual standard.

As for the sporty variant mentioned in leaks, pointed out as a possible replacement for the current M340i, it remains without an official presentation.

In this case, what exists so far is the mention in materials anticipated by specialized vehicles, without confirmed detailing by the manufacturer.

Facelifted Series 7, M2 xDrive and iX4 among the names cited

At the top of the range, the facelifted Series 7 also appears among the expected movements for the next product cycle.

As there has not yet been an official reveal of the facelift, what exists so far is the expectation that the sedan will receive a visual update and incorporate elements of the new digital environment inaugurated by the Neue Klasse.

The most concrete advancement at this moment is in the direction of the language already adopted by BMW with the iX3 and i3.

Among the models cited in leaked documents, few have attracted as much attention as the possible M2 xDrive.

The adoption of all-wheel drive in the smaller coupe of the M division has been discussed for some time by specialized publications, but BMW has not yet formalized this launch.

Without an official announcement, the most prudent scenario is to treat the car as a market possibility, rather than a confirmed product.

The iX4 emerges in a similar reading.

The assessment made by part of the specialized press is that BMW may replace the space previously occupied by the combustion X4 with an electric coupe-SUV.

This transition is associated with the restructuring of the line, especially since the discontinuation of the conventional X4 has been reported by industry publications and accompanied the manufacturer’s concentration of efforts on the more recent models and the Neue Klasse architecture.

This same movement affects more niche cars.

Z4 and Series 8 are among the models pointed out by specialized vehicles as nearing the end of the current cycle, with no direct confirmed replacements so far.

In parallel, Alpina, already incorporated into the BMW Group universe, has begun to be repositioned to a higher luxury tier, in a move that the international industry press compares to the territory occupied by Maybach within Mercedes-Benz.

With electric vehicles already revealed, expanding SUVs, sedans in transition, and sports cars under review, BMW is designing a broad portfolio renewal for 2026.

Part of this agenda has already been formalized by the company; another part remains supported by leaks and behind-the-scenes information that still depend on official confirmation.
