EllaLink completed the anchoring of the submarine fiber optic cable for 5G in the state of Ceará, which will connect Fortaleza to Sines, in Portugal. Director of EllaLink said in an interview with Sputnik Brasil that 5G technology will be a watershed.
The submarine fiber optic cable (5G) will make the first high quality connection. The extension contains more than six thousand kilometers of submarine cable connecting the capital of Ceará to Sines and is expected to be completed by the middle of the second quarter of next year, with a view to improving the performance of telecommunications platforms.

With the very high-speed connectivity between South America and Europe, digital businesses, electronic banking, cloud services, entertainment media and games will benefit from the arrival of the submarine fiber optic cable (5G) in Fortaleza, Ceará, according to the director of EllaLink.
“In addition to Fortaleza, EllaLink will also be connected to the main centers of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Direct fiber pairs provide a low-latency path and form a solid foundation upon which Internet operators and content providers will be able to develop competitive offerings,” said EllaLink's director, regarding fiber optic (5G) undersea cable anchoring.
Ministry of Communications talks about new submarine cable
According to the Ministry of Communications of Brazil, the submarine fiber optic cable has a storage capacity more than six thousand times greater than the current one, and the costs of this project should cost around R$ 1 billion.
Due to the high expectations on the part of Portugal, the director of EllaLink said that the schedule is up to date, even with the setbacks of the current scenario in the country, due to the pandemic.
