Casa dos Ventos Expands Portfolio with Solar Energy and Green Hydrogen Following Entry of TotalEnergies. New Projects Include Hybrid Plants and Wind Farms.
Casa dos Ventos is expanding its operations and diversifying its investments in the renewable energy market. With the partnership with TotalEnergies, the company aims to invest over R$ 12 billion in renewable generation assets by 2026, including entry into the solar energy market.
In addition to its existing winde farms, Casa dos Ventos plans to add 1 GW of photovoltaic solar energy in the coming years, forming hybrid plants and strengthening its presence in the clean energy and sustainable energy market.
The Rise of Renewable Energy in the Brazilian Energy Market
The partnership between Comerc Eficiência and Casa dos Ventos has enhanced corporate governance and strengthened the company’s competitiveness, intensifying the growth pace and providing technical and knowledge synergies. Lucas Araripe, executive director of Casa dos Ventos, emphasized that this set of factors enhances the company’s differential as a protagonist in the energy transition in Brazil.
-
Researchers discover a possible hydrogen deposit of up to 46 million tons beneath an ancient coal basin, and the volume could exceed half of the entire global production.
-
China bets on the Fishery-PV model and transforms fish farms into giant solar plants, covering ponds with panels that generate energy while utilizing the same space for large-scale aquaculture production.
-
Europe records strong euro economy with solar energy in March and sparks curiosity about which country leads growth that redefines the energy market and reduces costs.
-
Piauí reaches a historic milestone in energy transition: State records nearly 160,000 households powered by solar energy and leads growth in the Northeast.
In addition to wind and solar, the company is investing in the production of green hydrogen and derivatives, associated with clean and sustainable energy generation.
Photovoltaic Solar Energy and Hybrid Plants in Focus
Casa dos Ventos’ most advanced project is the production of hydrogen and green ammonia at the Pecém Industrial Complex in Pernambuco, aimed at the international market. Developed in partnership with Comerc Eficiência, the project will have a capacity of up to 2.4 GW of electrolysis to produce over a thousand tons of hydrogen per day and 2.2 million tons of green ammonia per year. It is expected to start operating in 2026.
According to Araripe, the company is studying projects in the domestic market, primarily targeting the steel and fertilizer sectors.
Global Expansion and Operation in Emerging Markets
The cost of renewable generation in Brazil and the sustainable nature of the electric system position the company competitively on a global scale, expanding its operations to decarbonize other geographies that do not have natural resources at scale, Araripe stated.
Casa dos Ventos has a portfolio of 30 GW of renewable projects under development, which allows for sustained growth in the coming years, driven by the expansion of the free energy market.
Through both energy sales and structured operations, carbon credits, and International REC Standard (I-REC) certificates, as well as as a retail trader, the company is consolidating its role as a pioneer and leader in the renewable energy sector.
