Cattalini Maritime Terminals Invests in Safety Project by Acquiring High Flow Rate Foam Suppression Vehicle, R560 Super XT Model, with Scania Chassis and Mitren Implementation, for Flammable Product Terminals in Paranaguá, Reinforcing Fixed and Efficient Systems. Positively Evaluated by the Military Firefighters Corps of Paraná.
Cattalini Maritime Terminals is promoting a significant safety project to enhance protection at its flammable product terminals in Paranaguá. This initiative includes the acquisition of a high flow rate Foam Suppression Vehicle, R560 Super XT model, with Scania chassis and Mitren implementation. The goal is to reinforce fire-fighting systems, ensuring greater efficiency and safety in port operations, especially in areas that store flammable liquids.
This solid safety project has been widely praised by the Military Firefighters Corps of Paraná, which emphasized the importance of the measure for accident prevention. It is worth noting that the acquired vehicle is part of a broader prevention project that includes other essential preventive measures for maintaining safety at the terminals. The investment in cutting-edge technology reflects the company’s commitment to providing a safer work environment, well protected against potential incidents.
While we have fixed and efficient systems, the Foam Suppression Vehicle (VPE) was acquired as an additional and preventive piece of equipment. This safety project is a crucial differentiator that helps control incidents more quickly at flammable product storage terminals. Perci Fregadolli Jr., operations manager and coordinator of the Emergency Brigade at Cattalini Terminals, highlighted the importance of this equipment.
Safety Project for Storage Terminals
To adapt to the physical characteristics of the Tanking Centers and the specificities of Cattalini’s operations, the prevention and VPE assembly project was tailored to operate effectively in emergencies involving flammable products that require Foam Generating Liquid (LGE). This type of safety project is vital to minimize risks and promote a quick and efficient response in emergency situations.

The world’s largest escalator, measuring 905 meters in China, reduces urban travel time from 1 hour to about 20 minutes and transforms mobility in mountainous regions with an engineering solution adapted to the terrain.
One of the main highlights of the VPE is its high flow rate of solution (water + LGE), which reaches up to 11,000 liters per minute, providing extensive reach and high precision in operations. Although this Foam Suppression Vehicle does not store water, it has integrated pumping systems from fixed sources and is connected to the terminal’s emergency prevention system.
Innovation in the Safety Project with High Technology
Built on the robust Scania manufacturer’s chassis, R560 Super XT model, the VPE is the result of the work of Mitren, one of the largest special vehicle implementation companies in Brazil, responsible for installing the pump and Foam Generating Liquid systems. This safety project also includes a security initiative to prepare the Cattalini emergency brigade through specific training in both emergency driving and pump operation in firefighting vehicles, ensuring 24-hour availability.
The acquisition of this VPE, besides being a preventive measure, was well evaluated by the Fire Department, which considered it a success.
Evaluation by the Fire Department for the Safety Project
According to Major Douglas Martim Konflanz, who represents the Military Firefighters Corps of Paraná, they operate with their entire staff, vehicles, and equipment in emergency responses in the port area. He emphasized that success in an emergency depends on the speed, effectiveness, and robustness with which the incident is handled. In this scenario, the safety project implemented by Cattalini Maritime Terminals, by including this truck in its structure, incorporates the essential elements for efficient emergency response.
The major also emphasized that this safety initiative ensures the health of the company’s employees, protects its facilities, minimizes ecological impacts, and ensures the maintenance of social harmony for the surrounding community. Thus, the acquisition of the VPE is not just a preventive measure but a clear demonstration of commitment to the safety and well-being of all involved.
