On the last Thursday, August 26, CBA (Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio) announced that it will invest around R$ 2 billion in the implementation of new projects at its Aluminum factory in the Greater Sorocaba region in the state of São Paulo. The announcement was made by CBA CEO Ricardo Carvalho during a press conference about the new phase of the company under the Votorantim group. Investments in the Factory, in the State of São Paulo
According to Ricardo Carvalho, most of the investments of around R$ 2 billion in the Aluminum factory will be raised through a share offering in the market, which is expected to generate jobs and increase production. “During the implementation of new projects at both CBA and Metalex, which is located in Araçariguama, approximately 1,700 jobs should be created, and after the projects are completed, about 350 permanent jobs,” emphasizes CBA’s CEO.
The investments anticipate the expansion, renovation, and modernization of the aluminum production furnace lines, as well as the upgrade of the technology used in the production line. “The factory had 7 production lines, the so-called furnaces, but two lines have been idle since the energy crisis in 2014, and now we will reactivate them, which should increase production,” highlights Carvalho. To produce aluminum, the company extracts tons of bauxite, which arrive daily at CBA’s factory in Alumínio, coming from its own mining units and partners.

And the current recycling capacity is 235,000 tons per year, considering both the Aluminum factory and Metalex.
In addition to the approximately R$ 2 billion investment in CBA’s Aluminum factory, the company also announced plans to invest another R$ 2 billion in bauxite production in Pará under the Alumina Rondon project.
