Innovation in monitoring flexible pipelines revolutionizes the oil industry
CESAR, a renowned innovation and technology center, in partnership with Petrobras and UFRJ, achieved a prominent position in the ANP Technological Innovation Award with its pioneering “Digital Twin” project. This project, situated at the heart of innovation in the petroleum industry, focuses on an advanced monitoring tool for flexible pipelines. The tool is designed to assess CO2 stress corrosion cracking (SCC-CO2), a crucial step towards optimizing production and increasing operational safety in the sector.
The “Digital Twin”, or digital twin, is a virtual representation of the flexible pipelines used in the oil field. This technology allows real-time monitoring of the condition of pipelines, focusing on the severity of SCC-CO2. This innovation enables Petrobras engineers to make decisions based on concrete data to optimize production and improve the efficiency of oil operations.
Technological tool and operational security
The “Digital Twin” project integrates field sensors into an operational analysis model, providing a comprehensive view of the most critical pipelines. This significantly assists in decision-making, ensuring the operational safety of these vital structures.
