Lack of Elements in the SUV: Connectivity, Safety, Suspension, Engine, Usability, Interior Space, Finish. Competitive Prices, Versions.
The Chevrolet Montana RS has been announced as a truck with a touch of SUV, a strategy by General Motors to capture the audience interested in this type of vehicle. Just like it did with the Cruze and the Tracker, the automaker brought the RS variant to the party, aiming to stand out in the pickup market.

Aesthetics and Connectivity of the Chevrolet Montana RS
The Chevrolet Montana RS has not had changes in its equipment list when compared to the Premier version, the former top of the range. The changes are purely aesthetic, so it’s worth recalling what the pickup brings of interest from a technological perspective.
The positive aspect, of course, is the connectivity package, which is a differentiator when comparing the model with the Renault Oroch and the Fiat Strada, two of its main competitors.
The Montana RS comes with the OnStar system, Chevrolet’s concierge, and can have Claro’s 4G enabled natively to provide connectivity for passengers with great quality, as we always assess here. The experience remains good in terms of connectivity when we use the My Chevrolet app, which helps you monitor the pickup and check important usage data.
The My Link multimedia center has an 8-inch screen and remains competent, with an intuitive and fast interface, in addition to wireless connection for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The only ‘but’ with the use of the device is the image quality, which cannot be adjusted and has low contrast, giving the impression of being an inferior quality product — which is not true. Certain things may bother more demanding customers, and GM could have already updated this center.
Suspension, Engine, and Handling in the Chevrolet Montana RS
Those who expected to see different behavior in the Chevrolet Montana RS can start taking the horse out of the rain. According to what we gathered from GM itself on the day of the truck’s launch, no changes were made to the suspension, gearbox, and engine.
This, of course, doesn’t mean that the pickup is lacking — on the contrary. Being light for a vehicle of this type, weighing only 1,310kg, the 1.2 turbo engine with 133hp and 21.4 kgf/m of torque is more than enough to provide a great experience with the Chevrolet truck. The six-speed automatic transmission is also the same used in other models from the automaker.
Its handling, , remains very good here, with well-calibrated electric steering and an honest level of performance for urban and highway use. This three-cylinder engine undeniably fulfills its role well.
Features, Interior Space, and Finish of the Chevrolet Montana RS
The weak point of the Montana RS in usability is its interior space. I remember well when GM presented the car for the first time last year, claiming that the space would be the best utilized in its class. Well, that depends.
The sealing system applied by GM is what ensures the greatest safety and comfort for passengers when imagining their luggage in the compartment on rainy days. We tested it and, believe me, it’s really good.
In terms of comfort features, we have a reasonable package. There is digital and automatic air conditioning, but only for one zone. We also have rain and twilight sensors, front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry, push-button start, and remote engine start.
We usually complain about the finish of Chevrolet’s volume cars, but the Montana RS pleased us in this regard. One can notice care in the dashboard, with the application of good quality materials and great finishing touches, somewhat changing the perception of simplicity of the Tracker, its platform brother.
