With Nostalgic Design Inspired by the Kombi and Plug-in Hybrid Engine, the Songsan Summer Bets on Comfort, Efficiency, and Innovation to Gain Space in the Chinese Market
In China’s competitive automotive market, some smaller manufacturers manage to attract attention with bold proposals. This is the case of Songsan Motors, a company that blends classic inspiration with modern technology. An example of this combination is the Songsan Summer, a minivan that pays homage to the traditional Kombi, but with features aimed at the future.
Classic Design with Modern Vision
The Songsan Summer has seven seats and adopts a design inspired by the “Corujinha” Kombi, famous in the 1960s. Despite its retro style, the model brings cutting-edge technologies.
The proposal from Songsan is to rescue nostalgic design while updating the concept with innovations and energy efficiency. The result is a vehicle that attracts attention for both its appearance and functionalities.

The company behind the project, Songsan Motors, started in the vehicle and motorcycle customization sector. Since 2019, it has been manufacturing its own models.
However, since it does not yet have a production license granted by the Chinese government, Songsan outsources the manufacturing of the cars. The Summer minivan, for example, is assembled by King Long, a brand known for producing buses and vans in China.
Hybrid Engine and Efficient Performance
The technical aspect of the Songsan Summer is one of its highlights. The model uses components from BYD and features a plug-in hybrid engine.
The setup combines a 1.5 turbo engine with an electric motor, totaling a power output of 329 horsepower. This ensures solid performance, with a focus on sustainability and fuel economy.
Range and Balanced Consumption
The minivan has a 15 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 80 kilometers in fully electric mode. Additionally, with a full fuel tank, it can travel up to 700 kilometers.
The combination of electricity and combustion engine allows for greater flexibility and makes the vehicle suitable for different usage scenarios.
Internal Comfort and Creative Solutions
The interior of the Songsan Summer also features creative solutions. The second-row seats are movable and can be transformed into a bed.
Another option is to swivel the seats to create a living room-like environment. This makes the model attractive to families or individuals seeking comfort and versatility.
In terms of safety, the model includes features such as electronic traction control, stability control, front airbags, and a keyless entry system. These resources enhance user confidence and reinforce the brand’s commitment to product quality.
Competitive Price and Bet on Retro Style
The Songsan Summer was introduced to the public during the Shanghai Auto Show. The initial announced price was 198,000 yuan, equivalent to about R$ 154,000, according to direct conversion. This price, considered affordable within the Chinese market, adds to the qualities of the model and enhances its commercial appeal.
With the Summer, Songsan Motors demonstrates that it is possible to unite the past and the future in a single product. The company bets on a niche that values classic design while not compromising on modernity. This balance between tradition and innovation could be the differentiator that will help the brand grow and stand out even more in the Chinese automotive landscape.
