V6 Sedans With Over 300 Hp, 7-Seater SUVs, and High-Tech Minivans Are Being Ignored in the Used Market While Costing the Same as a Basic Corolla or a 1.0 Hatchback Zero Kilometers.

Did you know there are cars worth much more than the price you pay for them? In the used market, some models deliver luxury of a premium sedan, strong performance, lots of equipment, and even a V6 engine, but they remain off the radar of most buyers. In this article, you will see 7 “treasures” that were expensive and desired when new, but have plummeted in price and become almost secret opportunities for those who know what they’re looking for.

These cars do not appear in TV advertisements, are not the “favorite of dealers,” and often suffer from an unfair reputation or pure unfamiliarity. Nevertheless, they offer more comfort, safety, and driving pleasure than many more expensive new options, especially when comparing them with popular and traditional mid-size sedans.

Why the Used Market Hides So Many Good Cars

The used market tends to favor “easy” cars to understand: popular 1.0s, well-known mid-size sedans, trendy SUVs. Meanwhile, large sedans, minivans, and premium Japanese or French models suffer from a few factors:

  • Fear of maintenance costs due to being luxury or imported
  • Unfamiliarity with the mechanics and history of the models
  • Prejudice against depreciation, as if that were always a bad thing

In practice, this combination drives down the price of these cars, opening up opportunities for those willing to do their research and seek well-maintained units.

You pay the price of a Corolla or compact hatchback and take home a level of body style, engine, and finish that many new options cannot come close to.

Lexus IS 250 F Sport: Premium Sedan With a Sporty Soul

YouTube Video

The Lexus IS 250 F Sport is that sedan that goes unnoticed but delivers exactly what many people dream of: luxury, sportiness, and mechanical reliability in one package.

It competes with the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class, but with the typical Japanese touch of impeccable finish and robust mechanics.

In the F Sport version, the look becomes more aggressive, with exclusive bumpers, distinctive headlights, and 18-inch wheels.

Inside, the car has an interior that still feels current, with quality materials and plenty of technology for the time, including a multimedia system with a 7-inch screen, premium sound system, head-up display, sunroof, power front seats with memory, rear-view camera, front and rear sensors.

Additionally, it comes with a complete safety package with stability control, traction control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking.

The real highlight is the mechanical setup: 2.5L V6 engine with 209 hp and 25.7 kgfm, six-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive.

0 to 100 km/h takes 7.5 seconds and top speed reaches 230 km/h. It’s not a radical sports car, but it is much more enjoyable to drive than a regular mid-size sedan.

In terms of fuel consumption, it’s surprising for a premium V6 sedan: around 8 km/l in the city and up to 11 km/l on the highway, within manageable limits. The trunk space of 480 liters is average for the category.

The most shocking part comes now: in the used market, the Lexus IS 250 F Sport is listed between R$ 100,000 and R$ 150,000, with good examples around R$ 130,000.

This is the price range of a basic 2020 Corolla, but here you take home a premium V6 sedan, with much more refinement and driving pleasure, without leaving the Toyota family.

Hyundai i30 2nd Generation: Fully Equipped Mid-Size Hatchback at Compact Price

In the used market, discover luxury cars, used cars, V6 cars, and premium sedans that deliver performance and comfort well above the price.

The second-generation Hyundai i30 did not replicate the remarkable success of the first model in Brazil, but this has created an opportunity. Today, it costs less than it is worth in terms of delivery and equipment.

The first i30 became famous in 2009 for bringing substantial equipment and technology at a competitive price. The second generation arrived with even more interesting features, such as dual panoramic sunroof, electric parking brake, keyless entry, and multiple airbags, but faced two problems: initially weak mechanics for the car’s weight and, primarily, a high price at the time.

In the most appealing phase for the used market, the i30 features a 1.8L engine, a variation of the well-known 2.0 found in models like the Cerato, Creta, and Sportage. It delivers 150 hp at 6,500 rpm and 18.2 kgfm at 4,700 rpm, always with a six-speed automatic transmission. The performance is honest: 0 to 100 km/h in 12 seconds and a top speed of 190 km/h.

The fuel consumption is consistent with the category: around 8 km/l in the city and up to 12 km/l on the highway. The trunk space of 378 liters is among the largest for mid-size hatches, nearing that of some sedans.

In well-equipped GLS versions, the car can include a dual panoramic sunroof, multimedia center, electric parking brake, keyless entry, and a full safety package with front, side, and curtain airbags. It’s a very complete mid-size hatch, offering comfort and space comparable to larger cars.

The best part is the price: a 2014 i30 with a 1.8L engine appears in the used market between R$ 70,000 and R$ 80,000, depending on options.

In many cases, you pay the price of a compact hatch or just a bit more and get a more spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped car for your garage.

Mitsubishi Outlander GT V6: 7-Seater SUV With the Performance of a Large Sedan

In the used market, discover luxury cars, used cars, V6 cars, and premium sedans that deliver performance and comfort well above the price.

The refreshed Mitsubishi Outlander that arrived in 2016 corrected the visual of the previous generation and became a much more attractive SUV. In the GT 3.0 V6 version, it transforms into a family SUV with the performance of a large sedan and excellent value for money in the used market.

On the outside, the car has a more aggressive look in line with the brand’s visual identity, without major mechanical revolutions.

Inside and in terms of equipment, the top-of-the-line version includes disc brakes on all four wheels with ABS, stability and traction control, front, side and curtain airbags, a multimedia center with mirroring, GPS, multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, paddle shifters, keyless entry, leather seats with electric adjustment, and semi-autonomous features such as lane correction and adaptive cruise control in some configurations.

The major advantage of the GT version is its mechanical setup: 3.0 V6 MIVEC engine with 240 hp at 6,000 rpm and 31.2 kgfm at 4,000 rpm, six-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive (AWD). The SUV goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and reaches 200 km/h.

The fuel consumption, for a large V6 SUV, is acceptable: around 7 km/l in the city and up to 10 km/l on the highway. The car also offers seven standard seats, making it a great option for large families who do not want to sacrifice performance.

In the used market, the 2016 Outlander GT 3.0 V6 appears in the range of R$ 90,000 to R$ 110,000. This value is very close to that of aspirated compact SUVs and even similar to that of a HR-V from the same year, but here you get a larger SUV, with a more powerful engine, more equipment, and seven seats.

Citroën C4 Picasso and Grand Picasso: French High-Tech Minivan at Mid-Size Sedan Price

In the used market, discover luxury cars, used cars, V6 cars, and premium sedans that deliver performance and comfort well above the price.

The Citroën C4 Picasso is yet another classic case of an excellent car that suffered from depreciation and prejudice. Today, it offers high-level technology and comfort for a value that effectively makes it “worth more than it costs.”

With a more conservative look than the Peugeot 3008, the C4 Picasso adopts a minivan profile, while the Grand Picasso version offers a longer wheelbase and trunk space of 537 liters, ideal for families needing ample space. In both, the focus is on comfort, technology, and versatility.

In the top-of-the-line version, the car can include 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, tire pressure monitoring, automatic parking assistant, driver’s seat with memory, dual panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate opening, keyless entry, fully digital dashboard, electric windows, locks, and mirrors, as well as front, side, and curtain airbags. It’s a package that still impresses by today’s standards.

The mechanics are well-known in Brazil: 1.6L THP single-fuel engine with 165 hp at 6,000 rpm and 24.5 kgfm, reliable six-speed Aisin automatic transmission. Performance is strong for a minivan: 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h.

Fuel consumption is also pleasant, as long as you drive calmly: around 9 km/l in the city and up to 12.5 km/l on the highway. Maintenance requires attention, as single-fuel THP engines can have chronic issues if poorly cared for, so it’s essential to look for a well-maintained example.

In 2016, both the C4 Picasso and Grand Picasso appear in the used market for around R$ 80,000 to R$ 85,000, even in the more complete and well-preserved versions. This is the price of many basic mid-size sedans, but with space, technology, and comfort of a much more sophisticated car.

Toyota Camry V6: 310 Hp, Luxury of a Premium Sedan at Corolla Price

In the used market, discover luxury cars, used cars, V6 cars, and premium sedans that deliver performance and comfort well above the price.

The ninth-generation Toyota Camry, launched in 2019, elevated the model’s status in Brazil. Bold design, more technological interior, and traditional Camry comfort have transformed the sedan into an almost secret option today because in the used market, it costs practically the same as a well-equipped Corolla.

The car arrived in Brazil in the XLE version, already equipped with a complete package of equipment: disc brakes with ABS, multiple airbags, xenon headlights, sunroof, multimedia center with GPS and TV, keyless entry, power front seats, and three-zone automatic climate control with extra controls for rear passengers, including electric adjustment of the rear seats.

The big highlight is the mechanical set: 3.5L V6 engine with 310 hp at 6,600 rpm and 37.7 kgfm at 4,700 rpm, eight-speed automatic transmission, 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds, and top speed of 225 km/h. All this in a large sedan focused on comfort, not sportiness.

The fuel consumption, for a large sedan with over 300 hp, is surprisingly acceptable: around 8 km/l in the city and up to 12 km/l on the highway. The trunk space of 593 liters is larger than that of many medium and large SUVs.

Today, a 2019 Camry is listed in the used market between R$ 140,000 and R$ 155,000. In practice, it’s the price of a well-equipped Corolla, but you take home a large V6 sedan with much more space, superior finishing, and performance well above average.

Mercedes-Benz C180 2013: Entry into the Premium World at the Price of a 1.0 Car

In the used market, discover luxury cars, used cars, V6 cars, and premium sedans that deliver performance and comfort well above the price.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz C180, updated in the 2013 model year, from the W204 generation, was many people’s dream car. Today, it is possible to find this car for around R$ 70,000 in the used market, something unthinkable at the time of its launch.

The facelift gave the C-Class a more aggressive look, a more refined interior, and the iconic star on the front grille that still commands respect. The vibe is of a premium mid-size sedan, with a young executive style.

Under the hood, the C180 features a 1.6L turbo gasoline engine with 156 hp at 5,300 rpm and 25.5 kgfm at just 1,250 rpm, linked to the seven-speed 7G-Tronic automatic transmission, focused on smoothness and comfort. The performance does not disappoint: 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 223 km/h.

The fuel consumption is quite interesting for a premium sedan: around 8 km/l in the city and 13 km/l on the highway, varying with usage and the car’s condition.

In terms of comfort and finish, the C180 offers leather seats with memory, dual-zone digital climate control, daytime running LED lights, stability and traction control, cruise control, multifunction steering wheel, and interior finishing worthy of a true premium car. The interior space is that of a true mid-size sedan, with a trunk of 475 liters, sufficient for daily use.

Today, a 2013 C180 appears around R$ 75,000, depending on condition. This is the price of a zero-kilometer compact 1.0 or just a bit more, but here you step into the true premium world.

It is a car that requires an impeccable history and great care in choosing, but if well purchased, it delivers a level of refinement that many new cars still dream of offering.

In the used market, discover luxury cars, used cars, V6 cars, and premium sedans that deliver performance and comfort well above the price.

The ninth-generation Honda Accord, launched in 2013, is another large sedan that commands respect, yet few actually consider buying it.

In the used market, the V6 version has become one of the best deals for those seeking strong performance and the comfort of a large car at the price of a popular 1.0.

On the outside, the Accord has a striking presence and a sober design. On the inside, it offers quality finishing, leather seats with electric adjustment for both driver and passenger, dual-zone digital climate control, sunroof, multimedia center with navigation, rear-view camera, stability and traction control, front and rear parking sensors, and a well-rounded sound system.

The mechanical setup is the major highlight: 3.5L V6 gasoline engine with 280 hp at 6,200 rpm and 34.6 kgfm at 5,000 rpm, six-speed automatic transmission, and sporty performance: 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and top speed of 230 km/h.

Despite the power, the Accord V6 has an important advantage: the VCM cylinder deactivation system, which can use 3, 4, or 6 cylinders depending on the situation, helping to save fuel during more relaxed driving.

In practice, it manages to achieve around 7 km/l in the city and up to 13 km/l on the highway under favorable conditions.

The interior space is that of a true large sedan, providing plenty of comfort for five adults. The trunk has 450 liters, which is an okay size for the category, although it could be larger.

Today, a 2013 Accord V6 appears in the used market between R$ 65,000 and R$ 75,000. It’s the price of a practically “bare” zero-kilometer compact car, but you take home a large V6 sedan, with comfort, strong performance, and finishing that reminds of premium cars.

It requires attention to provenance and higher maintenance costs, but if well chosen, it is a car that can cover many kilometers without drama, typical of Honda’s reliability.

How to Buy These Treasures Without Falling Into a Trap

One cannot ignore one point: all these cars were born expensive and continue to be superior category cars, even in the used market.

The purchase price may be similar to that of a popular car, but maintenance remains that of a large sedan, SUV, or premium model.

Therefore, before finalizing a deal:

  • Prioritize well-preserved examples, with a clear maintenance history
  • Invest in thorough inspections and trusted mechanical evaluations
  • Consider the cost of parts and insurance within your budget
  • Be wary of units that seem “too cheap” for the model’s standard

If you do your homework, it is possible to drive a Lexus, a Camry, an Outlander V6, or an Accord V6 for the price many people pay for a new compact car, but with a level of comfort, performance, and safety far above.

And you, which of these treasures from the used market would you choose to have in your garage today and why?
