The Position of Mail Carrier for Correios Is One That Should Be Included in the Announcement Scheduled to Be Released Later This Year.
The announcement regarding the concurso of the Brazilian Company of Correios and Telegraphs (ECT), or simply Correios, may be released this year and, accordingly, rumors are surfacing about the positions that will have vacancies available in the institution.
One of the most anticipated positions is that of mail carrier. This is because, in recent years, the entity, by not holding new concursos, has lost many employees who left the institution, either due to retirement or other reasons.
According to information from the website “QConcursos,” the company has already begun discussions with the intention of starting the procedures for the much-awaited concurso. Consequently, expectations are rising for the vacancies and positions to be offered.

Still according to the aforementioned website, the presidency of Correios shared information with trade unions, revealing preparations for two announcements. One of these documents is expected to include vacancies for the position of mail carrier.
Today, considering the salary reference provided by Correios, a successful applicant for the position of mail carrier has a salary starting at R$2,256.18, just over one and a half minimum wages.
In addition to the salary, professionals at Correios also receive various benefits while working at the institution. Among them are meal allowance; transportation allowance; childcare assistance or babysitting assistance; and assistance for dependent children with physical disabilities.
Moreover, these Correios employees have access to extensive medical and dental outpatient assistance for their legal dependents during the probationary period. Finally, after the probationary period, these employees will start to have access to shared medical and dental assistance and a Supplementary Pension Plan through the Social Security Institute of Correios (POSTALIS).
The Role of Mail Carrier
As mentioned, the role of mail carrier is expected to be one of those included in the Correios concurso. But, do you know what someone in this position does?
According to what is stated on the entity’s website, the professional is responsible for executing tasks related to the collection, receipt, sorting, verification, reconditioning, distribution, recording, and return of postal objects and telegram messages.
Additionally, the professional, while performing this function, must be responsible for collecting special contracts and other products and services provided in the Company’s portfolio, researching, tracking, identifying, and accounting for the objects and documents that are under their responsibility.
To do this, employees use appropriate equipment or means, following the rules, including safety guidelines, to meet the work plan established by the Company. Mail carriers must also report to their immediate supervisor when they notice irregularities in the postal flow during the activity, in order to support decision-making.
Furthermore, these employees may occasionally participate in promotional and social campaigns of the Company, promoting products and services, suggesting possible business opportunities, and providing information about programs to support government policies and the Company’s strategic plan.
Finally, the professional in the position of mail carrier may perform tasks related to service and sales in small units, following the standards and rules to meet the work plan established by the Company and may also perform other tasks of the same nature and complexity that are part of the activity in the Unit to meet the Company’s strategic plan.
More Positions in the Concurso
According to information, a recent meeting with trade unions and the presidency of Correios served to confirm the publication of two announcements.
In this regard, the information is that the first will focus on the Specialized Service in Safety and Occupational Medicine (SESMT). In this document, the included functions will be physician, engineer, nurse, technician, and assistant.
The second announcement will be for positions requiring two levels of education: secondary and higher. In it, in addition to the position of mail carrier mentioned in the article, positions such as Correios agent, attendant, and others are expected to appear.
