The opening of the ISS RJ 2023 Competition was recently announced. The public competition has vacancies for professionals with higher education in various fields, with a salary that can reach up to R$ 23,876.91. The organization responsible for the exam, which will take place at the beginning of the year, will be the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV), according to a notice published in the Official Municipal Gazette of Rio de Janeiro.

Higher Education Vacancies Available in This Public Competition Are for Revenue Inspector and Planning and Budget Analyst
According to data released by the Municipal Secretariat of Finance and Planning (SMPF), the positions offered in the ISS RJ competition are for higher education and are distributed among the vacancies of Revenue Inspector and Planning and Budget Analyst.
The numbers disclosed by the municipality of Rio de Janeiro indicate that the starting salary of a Revenue Inspector is approximately R$ 23,876.91 and at the end of the career, the salary tends to increase, reaching up to R$ 40,413.80.

For the ISS RJ Competition, Candidates’ Documents Are Required and All Applicants Will Be Evaluated Solely on the Objective Test
Another point disclosed was the requirements to take the ISS RJ competition. To enter both the Revenue Inspector position and the Planning and Budget Analyst position, the candidate must have a higher education degree from an institution duly accredited by the MEC in any field.
Regarding the stages of the ISS RJ competition, applicants will be evaluated solely by the objective test. There will be no other type of evaluation such as essay tests or assessment of qualifications for this position.

According to the agency from the Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro, the last competition was held during Eduardo Paes’ first term in 2010.
12 years ago, the notice included vacancies for the positions of Revenue Agent and Engineering Work Agent, and a total of 100 vacancies were opened, with 40 for sales inspectors, 40 for work agents, and 20 for revenue agents.
Just like this year’s competition for ISS RJ, candidates were evaluated objectively, through a test. Only the inspector positions had an essay test.
What Is ISS and How Does It Function
The acronym ISS stands for: Tax on Services of Any Nature. It is a tax provided for in Article 156, III, of the Federal Constitution of 1988, whose competence is reserved for municipalities and the Federal District. In Niterói, it is governed by Articles 65 and 124 of Law 2.597/08 and amendments.
