New Public Contest MEC Is On The Way And Promises To Generate 5 Thousand Vacancies Still In 2023. The Opportunities Will Be For The Equivalent Teacher Bank And Technical Administrative Positions.
Great news has just arrived for those who intend to participate in a new public contest from the Ministry of Education (MEC). Although a process was already authorized in June to fill 220 vacancies, a new MEC contest will soon be authorized with over 5 thousand vacancies.
New Public Contest MEC Should Include 5 Thousand Vacancies
On Wednesday, July 12, the “National Congress Bill 12/2023” was approved in Congress, aimed at expanding the availability of vacancies in the Reference Framework for Technical Administrative Positions in Education (QRSTAE) and Equivalent Teacher Bank (BPEs), generating an additional 5 thousand vacancies to be filled still in 2023 through a public contest. The proposal was forwarded by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at the beginning of the month. The text now goes for sanction.
According to the official note from the Federal Government, the measure will allow the hiring of teachers and technicians for universities this year. The expansion of vacancies was requested by the Ministry of Education (MEC) and endorsed by the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI). According to Esther Dweck, Minister of Management and Innovation in Public Services, with budget reallocations, that is, without increasing the projected expenses, it was already possible to expand this number by 5 thousand vacancies in a MEC public contest.

Understand How The Last MEC Public Contest Went
The last MEC public contest was held in 2009, when 265 vacancies were offered for the position of administrative agent. The organizing body at the time was Cespe/UnB, now known as Cebraspe. At that time, the objective test consisted of 120 questions, divided into basic knowledge, with 70 multiple-choice questions, and specific knowledge, with 50 questions.
The basic knowledge section included topics on subjects such as Portuguese language, computer science basics, and current events. Since 2009, the agency has conducted several temporary selection processes, such as the 2011 announcement, which was also organized by Cespe, aimed at filling 164 vacancies requiring higher education. The initial salary for those approved in this selection process was R$ 8,300.
MEC Opens Contest With 220 Vacancies
In June, MEC obtained authorization to conduct a new contest focusing on filling 220 positions in its staff. These MEC contest vacancies are aimed at professionals with higher education. In addition, MEC also received permission to open a selection process for the National Fund for Educational Development (FNDE), which plays an operational role within the ministry.
The initiative to authorize the MEC public contest aims to strengthen its team, enabling a more efficient operation in promoting and developing educational public policies in the country. The holding of contests will allow the hiring of qualified professionals who will contribute to the improvement of the country’s educational sector.
The MEC vacancy contest was authorized on June 16, 2023, through ordinance No. 2.384 published in the Official Federal Gazette (DOU). The available position is for Educational Affairs Technician.
