Neoenergia, Private Electric Sector Company, Acquires Wind Assets from PEC Energia with Capacity of 400 MW in Serra da Gameleira, Bahia
Neoenergia, the largest private group in the Brazilian electric sector by number of customers, purchased wind assets with a capacity of 400 MW from PEC Energia for R$ 80 million. The assets are located in Bahia, in Serra da Gameleira, covering an approximate area of 7,800 hectares.

The company stated in a press release that the transaction reflects a commitment to a long-term strategic plan and aligns with the group’s profitability policy and effective capital allocation. “It is also an action aligned with our efforts to increase participation in renewable energy sources in the Brazilian energy matrix, combating climate change.”
Furthermore, Neoenergia also noted that it has become the holder of the right to future exercise of the Purchase Option with PEC Energia for other wind projects in the Serra da Gameleira region. The Purchase Option may be exercised at the discretion of Neoenergia Renováveis.

Today, Neoenergia has 4.5 GW in generation, with 88% from renewable energy. The company is implementing an additional 1 GW with the construction of new wind farms. Neoenergia also has 17 wind farms in operation in the states of Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte, and Paraíba, and under construction, it has two wind complexes: Chafariz, located in Paraíba and consisting of 15 parks with a capacity of 471.2 MW, and Oitis, in Piauí and Bahia, composed of 12 parks with a capacity of 566.5 MW.
