Transocean specializes in technically demanding sectors of the global offshore drilling industry, with a particular focus on deepwater drilling services. The company owns or has partial ownership and operates a fleet of 43 mobile offshore drilling units, consisting of 24 ultra-deepwater floaters, 12 harsh environment floaters, two deepwater floaters, and five midwater floaters.
Additionally, Transocean is building two ultra-deepwater drillships. The company also operates a high-specification jackup that was under a drilling contract when the rig was sold, and it will continue to operate the jackup until the drilling contract is completed or novated.

The Offshore Drilling Market Improves and Transocean Earns US $ 352.9 Million in New Orders
According to Transocean’s statement, as the offshore drilling market continues to improve, the company is seeing an increase in contract opportunities for its deepwater drilling services and in aggressive environments.
“The demand from customers for high-specification ultra-deepwater rigs is now equal to or greater than the number of marketable rigs currently available in many areas,” said Transocean’s president and CEO, Jeremy Thigpen.
“As a result, new contracts more consistently reflect the significant increase in day rates, which will generate a significantly improved cash flow.”
