Imetame had previously reported that it found indications of hydrocarbons in the area in 2018, during an exploratory campaign conducted with the Imetame Energia 1 rig. However, the declaration of commerciality has only now been confirmed.

Despite 2020 being a turbulent year for the oil and gas sector in general, onshore exploration in Brazil has taken a new step, making some important progress this year.

Recently, the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) approved incentives for small and medium-sized oil companies involved in the exploration, development, and production of oil and natural gas.
