The 2020 Ford Ecosport Storm has been gaining prominence in the used car market. Ford's SUV delivers great performance and promises to be a good choice in 2024. Find out if this Ford car is still worth buying.

As a pioneer of compact SUVs, the 2020 Ford Ecosport Storm can be considered one of Ford's most important models in Brazil. Derived from the Fiesta, the Ford SUV maintains the refined dynamic behavior and other virtues of the hatchback. The 4×4 Storm SUV is a differentiated edition made especially for the national market.

Understand what's different about the 2020 Ford Ecosport Storm

The Ford car debuted with exclusive features for the model. Right off the bat, the 4×4 SUV draws attention with the identification of the model on the front grille, sides and on the protective cover of the spare tire. The color called Marrom Trancoso is exclusive to the model, however, the consumer can choose other more discreet ones, such as black, white, silver or gray.

When introduced, Ford's SUV with a more bold and adventurous look had a launch price of R$99.990. After some adjustments, the 2020 Ford Ecosport Storm was still available for R$106.940 at the beginning of 2020. Until the end of its life, in 2021, the Ford car was the top of the line for the family.

Ford's SUV still stands out intelligent 4WD traction, six-speed automatic transmission and other features in connectivity and safety. The Ford car has a bold design. The black stickers (which are on several parts of the car) may seem strange at first glance, but they reinforce its personality. It is worth noting that the 2020 Ford Ecosport Storm is more robust.

Ford has increased the dimensions a little to make it bigger. The model is 4.357 mm long, 1.785 mm wide, 1.693 mm high and has a 2.521 mm wheelbase.

Ford SUV performance and consumption

The engine used in the 4×4 SUV is the 2.0 Direct Flex with 176 horsepower, associated with a six-speed automatic transmission accompanied by torque converter. The Ford car has a top speed of 180 km. The SUV goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 11 seconds.

According to the figures released by Inmetro in the Brazilian Labeling Program (PBE), the consumption figures for the 2020 Ford Ecosport Storm with a 2.0 horsepower 176 Direct Flex engine and six-speed automatic transmission are as follows:

Consumption of 6.0 km/l in the city and 8,0 km/l on the highway with ethanol and consumption of 8,5 km/l in the city and 11,4 km/l on the highway with gasoline. Inside, the Ford SUV pleases with good materials, exclusive details and connectivity.

Overall, the interior finish is of high quality, the dashboard is made of plastic, but the Ford 4×4 SUV has some leather-like elements, present on the door, for example. The seats and steering wheel are covered in leather.

What to look for when purchasing the 2020 Ford Ecosport Storm

Despite delivering great numbers, performance and cutting-edge technologies, the Ford car has some chronic problems.

The 2.0 engine has a low tolerance to adulterated fuel, which almost always results in a drop in fuel line pressure. Failure to restart indicates problems with the high-pressure pump, but it could also be the low-pressure pump.

The gearbox requires fluid replacement every 240 km, but hydraulic pressure may still drop due to filter saturation. However, it will be far from being as problematic as the Powershift dual-clutch gearbox used up until this restyling.

The 4×4 SUV traction is worth checking the condition of the central bearing of the propeller shaft and whether the oil in the rear differential has been replaced. The lack of a sump guard makes it easier to identify damage caused by off-road driving.

I have a black 2018, I've had it for two years, very satisfied despite the consumption.

The suggested value is the one from the FIPE table, I've even found it for less. But for what the car delivers, it's very good. I have a 2020 and I don't regret the purchase.
