The Honda Civic was launched in the Japanese market over 50 years ago, but it only arrived here in the 1990s through independent import until it was nationalized in 1997. Only the sedan body was produced in the country, with emphasis on the imposing tenth generation, produced in Sumaré between 2016 and 2021. In this article, we will talk all about the Honda Civic G10, which is gaining prominence in the sedan segment.

How did the Honda Civic G10 arrive in Brazil?

With sales down, due to the migration of consumers from mid-size sedans to SUVs, the national Honda Civic was discontinued to make way for the eleventh generation, imported from Thailand in a single, hybrid version, with a more serious look and much more expensive.

Although it has been discontinued, the tenth-generation Honda Civic G10 is still a very well-received car on the used car market. In addition to its striking appearance and reliable mechanics, the sedan is always remembered for its very well-tuned dynamics, a characteristic appreciated by drivers who prioritize driving pleasure.

Underneath the beautiful bodywork, the Honda Civic G10 carries a structure that required a lot of work on the part of the Honda Engineering. The biggest renovation in the history of the sedan generated a more sophisticated car in every sense when compared to previous generations and its competitors at the time, so much so that it served as inspiration for the current generation of the arch-rival Toyota Corolla.

The 2,70 meter wheelbase favors the interior space of the occupants, who have at their disposal a 519-liter trunk to carry their luggage.

The cabin became more spacious and gained equipment, while safety was improved with new features. The praised multilink independent rear suspension was maintained, to the delight of model enthusiasts.

Does the Honda Civic G10 deliver good performance and consumption?

According to Inmetro data, the tenth generation Honda Civic in the sedan market with a 2.0 flex automatic engine goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 10,9 seconds and has an average consumption of 7,2 km/l in the city and 8,9 km/l on the highway with ethanol.

Fueled with gasoline, the averages rise to 10,5 km/l and 13 km/l, respectively. The Sport version with manual transmission, in turn, does 7,1/ 9,3 km/l in the city and 10,2/13,4 km/l on the highway (ethanol/gasoline).

The Touring 1.5 turbo CVT has a declared acceleration performance of 0 to 100 km/h in 8,6 seconds and average consumption of 11,5 km/l in urban use and 14,4 km/l on highway routes, always with gasoline. Finally, the Civic Si completed the acceleration test in 7,2 seconds without exaggerating in consumption: 11,2 km/l in the city and 13,7 km/l on the highway.

Main equipment of the Honda Civic G10

All versions of the Honda Civic G10 are factory-equipped with six airbags, stability and traction controls, 17-inch alloy wheels, on-board computer, among other items.

The EX version adds electric folding rearview mirrors, automatic headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, leather seats and a digital speedometer. EXL adds dual-zone digital air conditioning, multimedia with 7-inch screen and digital panel.

The Lane Watch system, which shows the blind spot on the right side using a camera in the rearview mirror, full LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, electrically adjustable front seats, rain sensor, photochromic interior rearview mirror, sunroof and engine start button with proximity key are items in the Touring version.

It is worth mentioning that, in the sedan market, prices range from R$92 thousand in the 2017 line and reach R$150 thousand in the 2021 line.

While in the US a 10 G2021 car costs around 10 thousand dollars, in Brazil it costs more than 100 thousand reais. The prices of used and new cars here in Brazil are absurd. More than half of the value of the car goes as taxes to the federal government and they still find buyers.

This is the reality, incredible as it may seem, the biggest culprit is the buyers. Brazilians who don't boycott anything will continue to be in the shit for 1000 years.
