The signing took place at the Assis Brasil Exhibition Park in Esteio, where the RS government headquarters was set up during the 45th Expointer.
Cotrijal’s New Factory Will Have a Production Capacity of 70 Million Liters
The industry will have a capacity of 70 million liters of ethanol per year, and operations are expected to begin in 2024. Nei César Manica, President of Cotrijal, emphasized that the project focuses on utilizing winter crops for ethanol production, with the full involvement of producers from the region of the new plant.

Cotrijal’s Ethanol Industry Will Be Facilitated Through the RS Government
The signed protocol establishes actions within the Treasury Department, such as the approval of the ICMS payment due on the purchases of machines and equipment from suppliers located in Rio Grande do Sul, as well as accessories, spare parts, and tools that bring these goods and are produced in the state.
The RS Government, through the Secretary of Economic Development, committed to ensuring the feasibility of the new ethanol production plant from Cotrijal in the State of Rio Grande do Sul Operation Fund (Fundopem/RS) and in the Program for Harmonization of Industrial Development of Rio Grande do Sul (Integrar RS).
Unit Promises to Generate 92 Direct Jobs for the Region
The Cotrijal also makes commitments through the protocol, such as creating approximately 92 direct jobs, prioritizing local labor hiring. According to Ranolfo Vieira Júnior, Governor of the State, who participated in the signing ceremony, the new ethanol production plant will help expand the state’s bioenergy chain.
According to Júnior, the project, besides generating jobs, income, and development in the region, also contributes to reducing RS’s dependence on ethanol production from other states.
