Holcim Achievements
In mid-April 2021, Holcim acquired Firestone Building Products, an American subsidiary of the Japanese group Bridgestone Corporation, headquartered in the United States, for around US$ 3.4 billion, a factor that allowed it to start diversifying its roofing waterproofing products and other construction products.
For those who don’t know, Holcim was born from a merger between the French company Lafarge and the Swiss company Holcim in 2015. Since then, the merged group decided to simplify procedures and the lives of customers, removing the name ‘Lafarge’ from the company name some time later, to return to being called simply Holcim. However, many still know the company as Lafarge Holcim.

CSN, one of the most prominent and complex companies in the areas of metallurgy, mining, logistics, cement, and energy, was founded in April 1941. Currently, the company has an integrated steel mill, plus 5 industrial units, two of which are abroad, several iron ore, limestone, dolomite, and tin mines, a distribution center for flat steels, as well as port terminals, stakes in some railways, and also has a stake in two hydropower plants.
In addition, CSN also stands out for being the first integrated producer of flat steel in the country, something considered a significant milestone in Brazil’s industrialization process.
The steel produced in the country by CSN opened doors for the establishment of the first national industries, the core of today’s industrial park in Brazil. The company was privatized in 1993, and its first cement production was in 2009, currently being one of the leading sales companies in the state of Rio de Janeiro, even though its headquarters is in Arcos (MG).
