Recent Variations in Diesel Prices Reflect a Mixture of Stability and Regional Adjustments.
The analysis of diesel price variations, between the week of 08/27/2023 to 09/02/2023 and 09/03/2023 to 09/09/2023, revealed intriguing data. It was noted that while certain regions experienced a slight decline in diesel pricing, others showed more noticeable adjustments. Continuous monitoring of price fluctuations is essential, as even minimal changes can significantly influence organizations’ operational costs and consumers’ budgets.
Regional Details: Largest and Smallest Adjustments
Brasília, for example, saw an increase in S10 diesel of 2.51%, with a current price of R$ 6.54. At the same time, common diesel had an increase of 2.75%, standing at R$ 6.36. In contrast, Campo Grande recorded a growth of 3.18% in S10 prices, reaching R$ 6.16, while common diesel experienced a decrease of -2.29%, now priced at R$ 5.98. Macapá and Natal, on the other hand, had reductions in common diesel, with Macapá at -2.55% (R$ 6.11) and Natal at -2.70% (R$ 6.13). In São Luís, an increase in S10 of 2.15% (R$ 6.17) was observed, but a decrease in common diesel of -5.41% (R$ 5.60). São Paulo followed this trend, raising common diesel by 0.49% (R$ 6.12 for S10) and 0.68% for common (R$ 5.92).
Expert Insights
Ricardo Henrique, data analyst at IPTC, emphasized that last week showed stability in diesel prices, while still maintaining a pattern of increase. “These variations, which recently displayed some consistency in certain areas, contrast with the impacts of the notable price increase announced by Petrobras,” he said, adding that some capitals could not be analyzed due to a lack of data.
