First Oil Transshipment Operation Between Vast Infrastructure And Chinese CNOOC Completed At The Açu Port
As one of the largest references in the port logistics field within the oil and gas sector in Brazil, Vast Infrastructure has now achieved a new operational milestone, completing its first oil transshipment operation with the Chinese CNOOC at the Açu Port.
Transshipment is the process of transferring a shipment from one mode of transportation to another, commonly employed when one mode cannot be used for the entire journey, and it ensures much greater efficiency in the oil sector regarding the transportation of the commodity between ports.

The world’s first container ship powered by renewable ammonia promises to avoid around 11,000 tons of CO₂ per year. The vessel, scheduled to operate in 2026, will connect Norway, Germany, and the Netherlands on one of the shortest and most strategic routes in Europe.
The first oil transshipment operation between Vast Infrastructure and Chinese company CNOOC at the Açu Port was completed with operational efficiency and safety due to the efforts of both companies.
For this, two Suezmax vessels were used to transport oil at the facilities of the Carioca port complex. Additionally, the companies announced that the operation moved over 1 million barrels of oil at the port.
Thus, Vast Infrastructure celebrated the oil transshipment operation at the Açu Port in a recent statement, saying: “CNOOC is one of the largest exploration and production companies in China and currently has its oil production concentrated in the Búzios and Mero fields in Brazil. We recently signed a long-term contract with CNOOC where Vast became the main logistics partner for exporting its oil production in Brazil. This was the first of many operations that are yet to come.”
Vast Infrastructure Seeks To Continue Expanding Its Business Portfolio In The Oil And Gas Sector After Successful Transshipment Operation At The Açu Port
Vast Infrastructure underwent a brand overhaul in recent years, as it was previously called Açu Petróleo and did not have the same focus on the national market. After rebranding, the company is now looking to invest in oil and gas business to move not just oil, but also other resources in the segment.
Although the main focus remains on oil transshipment operations, the company is now opening doors for other business ventures in the field.
The company began its operations in 2016 and is the owner of the only private terminal in Brazil for oil transshipment in sheltered waters with the capacity to operate VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) class vessels. It has a privileged location near the main oil-producing fields of the Campos and Santos basins, with licensing to handle more than 1.2 million barrels per day.
Thus, Vast Infrastructure’s presence in the oil and gas sector continues to expand, and after concluding the transshipment operation with CNOOC at the Açu Port, the logistics company is now seeking new contracts and business opportunities beyond oil in Brazil.
