Transshipment is the process of transferring a shipment from one mode of transport to another, commonly used when one mode cannot be used for the entire journey, and ensures much more efficiency in the oil business in terms of transporting the commodity between ports.

The first oil transhipment operation between Vast Infraestrutura and the Chinese company CNOOC in Porto do Açu was completed with efficiency and operational safety due to the efforts of both companies.

For this, two Suezmax type ships were used to carry out the transport of oil in the facilities of the port complex in Rio de Janeiro. In addition, the companies announced that the operation handled more than 1 million barrels of oil in the port.

Thus, the company Vast Infraestrutura celebrated the oil transshipment operation at Porto do Açu in a recent statement and stated: “CNOOC is one of the largest exploration and production companies in China and currently has its oil production in Brazil concentrated in the fields from Búzios and Mero. We recently signed a long-term contract with CNOOC where Vast became the main logistics partner for the export of its oil production in Brazil. This was the first of many operations to come.”

And, after the name change, the company now seeks to invest in business in the oil and gas sector to move not only oil, but also other resources in the segment.

Although the main focus continues to be oil transshipment operations, the company is now opening doors to other businesses in the field.

In this way, the presence of Vast Infraestrutura in the oil and gas sector continues to be expanded and, after the completion of the transshipment operation with CNOOC at the Port of Açu, the logistics company is now looking for new contracts and businesses in addition to oil in Brazil.
