CSN Cimentos Reported, Through Relevant Fact, That It Successfully Concluded the Acquisition of LafargeHolcim Brazil, Now Holding All Shares of the Company.
CSN Cimentos issued a statement to the public last Tuesday evening (6) informing that it successfully concluded the acquisition of LafargeHolcim Brazil, now holding 100% control of the company. This announcement came almost a year after the start of negotiations when the cement company expressed interest in purchasing LafargeHolcim Brazil.
From now on, LafargeHolcim Brazil will be known as CSN Cimentos Brazil S.A. and will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of CSN Cimentos. This name change takes effect immediately. The transaction value was estimated at US$ 1.025 billion according to the first relevant fact. Thus, the amount to be paid is around R$ 5.2 billion at the current exchange rate.
CSN Cimentos Becomes the Second Largest Cement Company in Brazil, Second Only to Votorantim Cimentos
In addition to high-quality limestone stocks and concrete units, the new factories, now owned by CSN, add a production capacity of 10.3 million tons of cement per year. As a result, CSN Cimentos has achieved the position of the second largest manufacturer of the product in Brazil, with a capacity of 16.3 MTPA, second only to Votorantim Cimentos. The new units involved in the billion-dollar deal are located in the Southeast, Northeast, and Central-West regions of the country.

Last Year, CSN Cimentos Purchased Cimento Elizabeth in a Deal Involving R$ 1.08 Billion
Around a year ago, CSN (Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional) announced that its subsidiary, CSN Cimentos, had successfully closed the contract for the acquisition of Elizabeth Cimentos and Elizabeth Mineração, both companies operating in the Northeast region of Brazil, mainly in the states of Paraíba and Pernambuco. The transaction includes cash payment, capital contribution, and debt assumption. The total value of the deal was R$ 1.08 billion.
With this acquisition, CSN Cimentos increased its annual production capacity by 1.3 million tons, now having a total capacity of 6 million tons per year. Following this transaction, the company has established a more comprehensive presence in the national territory as a more relevant producer of cement.
