The new Embrapa contest (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation) is still expected to take place this year. In August 2023, the company’s president, Silvia Masshurá, stated that the announcement for the Embrapa public contest was scheduled to be published in the first half of this year, with a total of 860 immediate vacancies.
Possible Positions of the Embrapa Contest 2024
Despite the president’s statement, a statement released by the company’s press office highlights that the current expectation is for 1,061 opportunities, taking into account the staff framework authorized in 2021 by the Secretariat of Coordination and Governance of State-Owned Enterprises (Sest).
Although Embrapa has not released the distribution of vacancies by position, it is already certain that the opportunities in the Embrapa public contest will be for secondary and higher education levels, with starting salaries of up to R$ 11,047.22. The selection process will be for three positions, with the appointment of the approved candidates expected to take place from 2024 to 2027.

All these positions require higher education with specialization depending on the role. For Assistant Class A, the salaries are R$ 2,767.94, requiring secondary education with a technical agricultural course and a category B National Driver’s License, Assistant Class B, with a salary of R$ 1,747.05, requires completed fundamental education, and Assistant Class C, with a salary of R$ 1,088.97, requires incomplete fundamental education. In addition, the approved candidates will receive a food allowance of R$ 1,075.25.
Learn How the Last Embrapa Public Contest Was
The last Embrapa public contest was held in 2010. At that time, 676 vacancies were offered requiring all levels of education. Organized by the Cetro Institute, the last Embrapa contest included Objective Tests, Discursive Tests, English Tests, Oral Tests, and Title Assessment. Regarding the cutoff score, the contest was segmented by various areas and sub-areas, without a single cutoff score for researcher, analyst, or assistant positions.
The objective test, which was eliminatory and classificatory for the Embrapa public contest, consisted of multiple-choice questions, with five alternatives each and one correct answer, based on the programs contained in the announcement.
The discursive test, which was also eliminatory and classificatory, consisted of 2 questions and was based on the Specific Knowledge programs contained in the opening announcement. The practical tests, which were eliminatory, for the position of Assistant Class C, involved tasks according to the position, area of activity, or sub-area.
