24 Million Tons of Basalto
According to businessman Luís Vasconcelos Borches Júnior, the investor responsible for presenting the business plan to the Municipality of MG, the mining company will be built on a deposit to be mined, with a capacity of approximately 24 million tons of basalt, a volcanic rock that is abundant in the region’s soil.
The stock allows the venture, which will generate various jobs, to have the capacity to produce more than 200,000 tons of a mix of products such as aggregates for civil construction, crushed stones, and road works, as well as basalt powder, which is a remineralizer capable of replacing chemical fertilizers.

The Importance of the Basalto Mining Company for MG
The mayor of the city, Odelmo Leão, highlighted the importance of the mining company in the city, not only in terms of development through job and income generation, but also as a significant step for the dissemination of rock powder.
According to Leão, this product will be the future of agribusiness in Brazil and that the sector must also prepare sustainably to feed the world. The meeting also included representatives from the company Campo de Brasília and the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Predominance of Basalto in Uberlândia (MG)
Basalto is a silicate rock of volcanic origin that is very present in the soils of Uberlândia. The city has about 16,000 hectares of this rock, which has a high concentration of calcium, potassium, and magnesium.
When in powder form, the material has the capacity to increase production yields by approximately 20% to 30%, improving plant health, increasing resistance to adverse weather, among others.
The city hall has been conducting studies and tests since 2017 alongside the company Campo in grain crops, and recently began testing the powder on small and medium-sized properties across various crops, such as bananas, pastures, and vegetables.
