Safety, Technology, Efficiency, And Sustainability Are Key Pillars Of The Company That Works Focused On The Future Of The Transportation And Logistics Sector

The Swedish company LOTS Group, part of the Scania group, is responsible for optimizing logistics operations through technology and innovation, has arrived in Goiás and is starting to operate in the sugarcane transportation sector in the cities of Mineiros and Perolândia.
The company, which has been operating since 2018 in sugarcane transportation and in several cities in the interior of São Paulo state, has already begun investments in the Goiás cities with the construction of a control tower for real-time fleet monitoring 24 hours a day, and also built a maintenance workshop for vehicle inspections. More than 220 professionals from the region have already been hired, and the company’s operations are expected to further stimulate the local market. “As the operation increases, we will need more manpower, meaning more people will be hired. We invest in training and capacity building and in diversity, so much so that we have an exclusive program to train women who want to work as truck drivers,” highlights the Chief Human Resources Officer of LOTS in Latin America, James Demarchi.

The new operations of LOTS in Goiás are part of the company’s investment plan of R$230 million dedicated to Latin America during the year 2023. According to Stephanie Amaral, responsible for Business Development at the company in Latin America, “the expectation is to grow in the region, increase operations, consolidate, and prospect new partners, given that Goiás is the fourth largest producer of sugarcane in Brazil.”
LOTS expects to transport 3.3 million tons of sugarcane in its new operations in Mineiros and Perolândia. The State of Goiás is expected to harvest 72.7 million tons of raw material in the 2023/2024 harvest, according to research from Agro em Dados. This result exceeds by 2.3% the volume achieved in the previous harvest and represents 11.4% of total Brazilian production. The state is the fourth largest producer of sugarcane in Brazil.
