Offshore Wind Energy in The United States
President Joe Biden’s administration announced that this target will require an estimated annual investment of over US$ 12 billion. The plan is expected to be implemented in the Atlantic and Pacific, potentially creating thousands of jobs. According to the White House, the offshore wind energy plan has the potential to eliminate 78 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
The United States government is considering selecting coastal areas of New York and New Jersey. The available plots will be offered at the end of this year and the beginning of next year. Currently, the United States has only one offshore wind farm, located near Rhode Island.
