This value is disclosed in the Energy Balance of Alagos (Beal) - Base 2019 published annually by the National Secretariat for Economic Development and Tourism (Sedetur).

The Energy and Mining Superintendence (Suem) is responsible for monitoring the secretariat, and he believes that the number is the result of a joint effort by:

  • Government of Alagoas;
  • Equatorial Alagoas;
  • Union of the Sugar and Alcohol Industry of Alagoas;
  • Entrepreneurs;
  • São Francisco Hydroelectric Company;
  • seaweed;
  • Federal University of Alagoas;
  • Ministry of Mines and Energy, Energy Research Company;
  • National Electric Energy Agency;
  • National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels.

Caio Uchôa, superintendent of Suem, said that “We are moving towards structuring, more and more, an assertive public policy for the planning of the productive sectors and for the dissemination of the State's potential. The number consolidated in Beal shows that Alagoas effectively advances with good practices in favor of the whole society, generating more work and investments”.

Alagoas also has 2.224 distributed photovoltaic plants. This total includes several installations mounted on solar panels that benefit 3.793 consumer units, which can improve the site's energy consumption. The total installed power is 28,5 MW. The advantages of using energy from renewable sources include lower costs, lower pollution rates, lower carbon emission rates and low maintenance requirements, which are in cooperation with Alagoas businesses.
