Equinor is one of the signatories of the manifesto in defense of the sustainable development agenda and the fight against deforestation in the Amazon, addressed to the Vice-President of the Republic and President of the National Council for the Legal Amazon, Hamilton Mourão. The Norwegian company is engaged in this initiative alongside a group of companies and business groups from the industrial, agricultural and service sectors, as well as institutions, including the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), of which Equinor is a member. . By championing the fight against illegal deforestation in the Amazon and sustainable development, Equinor recognizes that protecting forests is one of the most important tools to fight climate change. “Brazil has huge oil and gas reserves and high potential for developing renewable energies, such as solar and wind energy. The country is one of Equinor's three main areas and where we will grow significantly.
